Well I've always liked husky's ect. and when this dog came up at the local pound SHMBO fell in love;)
Now I know how Vlad fells:cool:
So here's the thing, what breed/s is she?
The pound said Shibaa Inu...They are to short, to ect..
The vet said Shepard cross but the muzzle is all wrong..

So come on experts give me your thoughts:Dhttps://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2010/08/829.jpg

Only had her a 5 days and she's put the Besenji cross in her place after a small teritorial spat:mad:
My little dog won't be the same. Yet another animal that found our house and stayed:D

Definately some type of Husky/Wolf breed. Maybe a young Aleutian Husky.

My first thought was a Malamute/German Shepard cross.

I agree with Simon,
The stoutness to me i thought Malamute straight off & the mention of German Sheppard does ring true if you look at just the face.

Good on you for saving another pooch.[thumbsupbig]

As Simon & Peter said. Good looking dog. How old is she?

Was going to put some up of my red heeler x rotweiller but dont have any on this computer. He looks like an oversized heeler but he is a bit heavier set and his head is a bit broader

Age is subject to who you ask;)
The Vet wrote 2 years on the paper work so I'll run with their info for this one.

Thanks for the input troups:D
Keep your ideas coming please.

Just a bigger pooping machine:eek:
I wonder If I bundle it to plastic bags I could sell it like the horse folk do:p:D

Soon as I saw it i thought Mally/Shepherd cross

However on a second look at the first picture could possibly be Akita/shepherd....

And for what its worth Shiba Inu's are small....they're a small breed dog:)

If it has Malamute never let it off the leash outside.
They are renowned for going bush for days and not giving a rats about obedience.
My son had a Malamute Rotty cross , lovely dog but as wilful as ****.
Get him to the dog beach and the only way to get him back was lots of treats and I have two other friends who had purebreds that did the same.

The one you have probably ran away from some place a long way from your place.
At least it doesn't have the Alsatian droopy arse that breeders seem to love. He's got that great perky malamute tail.

If you don't feed them they don't poo.

I think you have the same breed of dog as I do.

Its a LERGNOM... looking at it - it may be a pure one... more info shortly..

I'd go along with dullbird and say Akita/Shepard. To me the head's more Akita. My first thought was actually Keeshond/Shepard but the Keeshond are a much smaller breed.

Dunno what breed but it looks like one of those dogs that issues the command 'stay' as well as obeys it.

I'm the same - first thought of a Keeshond cross. But it has broader forehead / jaws and shorter snout than typical of both Kheeshond and Shepherd. Akita/Shepherd is probably a much closer fit.

Bloody nice looking dog though, whatever its origins.

My first thought was a Malamute/German Shepard cross.

Yep, my thoughts also!!!!!!

Put a little Basenji in its place, thats not an easy task.

Malumutes are one man dogs, they will hero worship their owner that feeds them, often if they go away for a while the dog won't eat and just sit in the corner.
Good on you for rescue of stray and lost dogs, dogs are for life not just xmas and sadly petshop often do not make that clear.

Take the dog to the snow and see a change in character like you never seen before.
I went to snow with a friends malamute and wow, what a difference.
They love it and play forever.
They probably are the direct opposite to the basenji you have.
One bred for winter the other for hunting lions and hot summers.
Oh and they can smell too unlike the basenji that has no odour at all.
cheers:D

Nice looking dog there Kyle,
Lets just hope it got it's brains from the shepherd side of the family;)

Bit of a coincidence but I saw one today almost identical to a T. Same shape, size and colour at the Newman Fortescue Festival. Actually had a chat to the owner who informed me it was a pedigree Alaskan Malamute. Slightly different to the traditional version I had seen previously but the owner did assure me it was a Malamute.
If it is or has Akita in it you will need to be very careful as they are listed on the dangerous dogs breed and can be seized regardless if it is a pure or cross breed. If it is do not admit to it.
Hope this helps.

Sounds like you know the Basenji's well, not to many people know much about them:D

They have nearly sorted thier teritries now;)
The Basenji is a bit worried about coming inside but with some TLC she's back sleeping on the couch.
As for "fluff", she decided where ever miss 14 goes she has to be there.
Thanks for your input guys, it's all helping make the right choices for training ect.:D

a labrador can be on the dangerous dog list thats different to a restricted breed..in which case the Akita is not on it (well at least in NSW), maybe your getting confused with the japanese Tosa

If you have a dangerous dog then yes you need to comply with council regulations to keep it unless hey do seize it and destroy it however the dog has to have done something bad to be put on the dangerous dog list like kill someone or made repeated attempts to attack for that to be the case..so dont worry alien even if your dog did have Akita in it no one is gunna take it away...the pound wouldn't of been able to rehome it if it was a restricted breed or a dangerous dog...as they would be massivly breaking the law

I'm with the other couple... definitely (possibly) akita/alsatian cross :)

I know all the traits of malamutes as mine shows most of them... i lover her dearly and she is the most beautiful dog that any of my family have owned... though would never have another :Rolling: Am planning on having an Akita sooner or later once i have more land to accommodate one.

Hi Kyle
Would have to agree Shepard x Malamute she looks good, will put up a post of our new addition soon.

BTW one test of Malamute is to look under the outer fur.
Is there an underlayer of fine whitish mohair like fur?
If so I hope you have a very effective vacuum cleaner as they moult PROFUSELY in spring.
My sons Rotty/malamute cross was black and tan, but had the underfur.

Yeah i'd hedge my bets towards Malamute x Shepherd.

The colours definitely seem to come from a Sable Shepherd. As far as the shape of her head goes the Shepherd breed is widely broken into East German and West German dogs. West Germans tend to be leaner and smaller boned with a pointer narrow face (they are also mad as a hat but that's another story). The East German dogs are bread for their size and calmer and more even temperament. I would say yours is from an East German dog, I've seen very similar heads on a pure bread East German Shepherd. And well the tail screams Malamute.

Very nice looking dog, have fun.

Nah, not at all:p

Before we got Annettes shepherd I tried to convince her to get an Akita .... but she doesn't like dogs with curly tails 'coz they're always winking at ya :o... true story.

nice pup too there adonuff:thumbsup:

What ever it is, it's a nice looking animal that's found a home.
It might be a Solihull Shepard , one that marks it's territory:D
