Hi all,
I'm about to retension the new head on the 2.25 petrol in the 2a and need to know if the bolts need to be slackened off before retensioning and if the tappets should be loosened before doing this? What is the general procedure?

Hi Pete,

Drain cooling system to below the level of the head, slacken off tappets slightly if you want as you will be adjusting them anyway:), undo/crack slightly each headbolt in reverse order, then go through and retension.

Hows the new addition coming long?

Thanks Justin. I'm assuming this is with engine warm. The new addition is going very well so far. Once I have larger tyres on the overdrive can be removed, then I can drop it in for a few adjustments. Perhaps I should put the stronger axles and diffs in first. :)

I usually do them cold. Left overnight is best.
You need to come and drive mine so you can decide if 33"s are your tyre size for gearing porpoises...:)
