I am looking at buying a 110 cab chassis with a 200tdi. My problem is the Lh chassis rail is rusted out. What are my options repair/replace?

Where is it rusted out, and what condition is the rest of it in?
The 200tdi is a good motor, but they were only produced for a short period so parts can be an issue.
You could get hold of another chassis and swap it for the rusted one, but it would be a bit of work. If everything else is in good condition it might be worthwhile, but if not you might be better looking for something thats a bit more solid.
The other option if you are getting it cheap would be part it out and use the money to put towards something better. A decent 200tdi and gearbox etc will sell between $1500-2500.

Thats what I thought. The RH rail is good with only slight rust but the LH rail has a fair amount in the front 1/2. I was thinking of replacing the whole chassis but due to there limited numbers will probably have to repair.
I am told they are different to the 300tdi chassis? Is this correct.
It has had the Gearbox and Engine reconditioned not that long ago.
The rest of the body is rust free although with a few dints.
forgot to mention that it is a cab chassis.

If one chassis rail is that bad I would place money there is more rust elsewhere that you can't see.

A 300Tdi chassis can be fitted, you would probably just need to weld your engine mounts on the new chassis.

Nothing a bit of bog can't fix....:wasntme:

On a serious note, a chassis swap would probably be a good idea. These guys did it in a weekend!!!

Local, 2nd-hand parts can be an issue, but the motor was actually produced from 1989 - 1994, almost exactly as long as the 300TDi was fitted to Defenders (1994-1999). Parts in general are available worldwide, but heads are no longer available. Genuine 300TDi heads are also no longer available but due to the derivative South American 2.8l having compatible heads, 300tdi's have a better reputation for parts availability.

There is a whole range of Land Rover 2.5L petrol and diesel engines that never made it to Australia, which have good parts availability in the UK. Don't think that "unavailable at my local wrecker" means non-existent.
