View Full Version : Does AULRO have too many forums

I get on here a bit and love the set up but have to admit there are a large number of forums that I never visit. I regularily browse the pinnacles, members rides, markets, general chat and tech chatter/good oil.

I see value in sections (that I dont visit regularily) such as trips and vendors sections but I wonder if there are some sections that rarely get visited by anyone? To think about it another way, are there some posts that would get more feedback if they were posted into a more general section, for example the car electronics and bio fuel sections being merged with vehicle specific or general tech?

I hit the new posts button, that way i don't miss a post i.e. no need to scan all of the forums

Yep. That's my method of approach.

But in my experience it does not always pick up new posts so I go through individual sections every couple of days - I often find posts that did not come up under the new posts button.

But I do agree there are some sections that are not used - maybe Incisor should vet them on a regular basis and those that have not had a post in say 6-9 months are removed.

eg AULRO Calendar (Apr 08)
Some of RR Club stuff - (08)

Diddo.
That way I see all posts and see how many been posted since my last log on.

Very interesting too to see what goes on and who posts.

Great site, much better than the Audi forum I was on. Too many heros there.

There are a couple of sections that 'New Posts' does not pick up on though.
The Soapbox being one.

That's probably a good thing :)

I feel that's why it's left off ;).

I expect so.

That is why people who complain about a post on the Soapbox being provocative or insensitive really don't have much grounds for complaint. You have to make a special effort to see the posts there and surely the title of the forum and the description would give most people a clue that it might contain material that may offend some readers.

Their complaints remind me a bit of the little old lady who complained to the police about the young man in the flat across the street who was walking around in his flat naked. When the policeman pointed out that he was only visible though his window from the waist up, the little old lady said, "But if you climb up on a chair on top of the cupboard, you can see absolutely everything." :D

This will I think become a large thread and a topic of much conversation!

There is a lot to talk about in it too.
do we delete old forums?
if so, at what point?
if so, will we stillbe able to access the prevous info?
should we collapse some little used forums into others?
if so, at what point?

etc etc...

maybe the moderators could set up a new forum so we can discuss it there?:p

any takers?
anyone?
anyone?

Why do the clubs have ther own section, for example gold coast has its own general chat?
Shouldn't Aulro have just one general chat?
Don't they have there own website like LROCV?
Not having a dig, i just don't know thats all:)

You need to think of the clubs as separate sites, they pay for the space and can use it as they wish,,

I think its a great thing to have these clubs on our main pages.:D

<snip>:I think that there are too many diverse opinions in this thread, I wonder if the Admins could break it up into a number of specific Sub-Threads One for problems of too many forums.

Seriously though.

I think each forum should have it's own "Discussion Forum" where we can discuss what is happening in that forum.
