Some one was advertising P38 body parts, (on the central coast I think) but I now can't find them. I had a slow speed roll last WE in my P38 and need doors etc. Can some help.

Your best bet would be to contact Andrew E from this forum. He's at Narellan/Horsely Park which is closer than the CC :).

Top bloke & lots of P38 parts.


Oh, and a story + some pictures of your unfortunate incident would be good too !!

Well I was up near Mudgee/Ilford off Aarons Pass road on a friends hilly property when we decided to do a bit of Roo hunting on a totally Moonless Friday night. After all the rain it was quite boggy in the valleys but no problem to the faithful RR, driving fairly slowly in LR we had just bagged a Roo and placed it as a hood ornament when we came to a steep ascent. I gunned it up the hill and as instructed followed the fence line, unfortunately after it leveled out the road dipped to the left and had been cut away, I followed the fence line with the RH wheels on the bank she just rolled over. Bugger I've broken my wing mirror, Oh and I'm lying on top of Jase, no seat belts, windows and sun roof open. Shut her down and crawled out the sun roof, helped Jase out>,The worse injury was Jase had squashed his LH index finger where he had been trying to hold on, not to bad as it healed over the next few days. Car and Roo were not so lucky. We returned the next day and winched her using a chain block, 2 snatch straps and a length of chain back on to her wheels where we had dug out the bank, initially we attached to the chassis but for for the final stage we strapped round the sun roof and passenger front door opening.,Took 3 stages with us blocking her with the jack a block of wood and a log initially but for the final stage we used 3 purpose cut lengths of 4 x 3 carefully propping her.

If you look at the pics in the previous post you will see a very sad Roo under my RH front wheel. Anyway it took us about 4-5 hours to get her back on her wheels then drag her off the bank using a Jackaroo to a flat bit on the top of the hill. We Left her there over night for all the fluids to settle then came back to her in the morning after a run into Mudgee and Supercheap Auto for vital fluids for her.,The auto trans dipstick had popped up and all the auto trans fluid had leaked out, we had also lost a little brake fluid. After topping up we tried to start her and as expected she hydraulic locked with oil in the combustion chambers.
We removed the LH bank plugs with some oil in 2 & 4, 3 been relatively dry and heaps in number 1. We took out number 1 on the right bank but it was fairly dry so we spun her over on 3 and blow me down she wanted to start. Put all except number 1 LH bank back and fired her up, after a minute we shut down and replaced that as well. She ran fine but lotsa smoke from the exhaust and from under the bonnet. The only mechanical adverse effect seems to be I have a slightly spongy brake pedal. After some remedial action to the passenger door frame so the window would go up I roaded her back to Sydney and she cruised at 110 no problem at all. Unfortunately the old ph camera died and I don't have any photos of her once she was driving. The ones I have added are during the recovery

Gee, it must have come close to wanting to roll over a bit further !!
Close call & it seems you escaped what could have been a real disaster.

Good write up and pics. Glad no one was hurt, other than the roo who was well past it anyway.

Look forward to seeing your repair write up as well :)
