Last tank for us was 10.8l/100k around town and to and from work.

Touring with the camper on is always around 12.0l to 15l/100k, worst economy was 17.3l/100k crossing the Simpson towing the camper, that's with larger tyres, bullbar, roof racks, drawers in the back.

Best economy towing was when the car was almost standard, 11.3l/100k on our way down to Murray Sunset NP in Vic.

2004 Td5 Auto ... std except for EGR removed, and 255/70 16" tyres.

Around town - 10.8L - 12.8L/100km (22-26mpg)
(short trips 5-15km ea way, open road, extra urban)

Short trips to bigger town - 10L - 11.7L/100km (24-28mpg)
(medium trips 45-90 min's, 80-90kmhr limits)

Open Highway long distance - 9L - 10L/100km (28-32mpg)
(100's of km for hours & hours & hours)

Worst ever was 18.4L/100km - Stockton Beach being a yobbo with 12psi in the tyres ! :)

My long term average for the last 15 months & 21,500km is 11.7/100km (24mpg)
(that's onroad/offroad/towing/leadfoot swmbo - everything)

I have an 02 defender 110 extreme wagon, no egr ,soundbox or MEOW , 255/85 Maxxi bighorn tyres a bullbar and soon to be replaced saggy suspension:D
11.5-12.5L/100k's mainly short 5-10min runs to work with some long drives whenever possible.

04 fender, 10s easy if i tried, most times 11-12 at worst, i dont do much towing,

iv just had mine chipped big time, and dont want to no what the l/p/h is:D:D

i just love the push back deep into my seat to much:D:D, but so far, its been very good, so maybe there clams for better economy are true,

at a cruse there is no effort in over taking now, and when driven normally, massive difference,

You guy's are lucky, I've got a 03 D2 TD5 Auto 190k and the best I can get out of it is 14.7 around town maybe 14 flat or in to the 13's on the HWY. Interestingly the mileage didn't change at Christmas when we towed the camper trailer over Hothum. It still has the EGR and the computer has been flashed by Les Richmond.

Anyone getting the same figures or is there something more I should be looking at??

My 2005 TD5 D90 turns in 27mpg (9.5Km/ltr).
It would seem every other TD5 Defender in Britain does the same.

Like others I'll post anyway even though mine is a 2000.

12 usually although if I acclerate faster than normal towing the camper then a bit less.

What's 'city driving'?

2000 TD5 with Rhino bars and usually loaded roller drawers 12-13 and does not change much, never had close to 10s like others have quoted, but my figures are also at 110kmph not 100kmph. 13-15 with caravan on. Worst around 19 towing fully enc car trailer weighing around 2.5 tonnes.

Totally standard...and no towing.

Still really think in mpg so my apologies for an incorrect figure.

I usually average 10.5 not 12.

2001 Defender 130. no much is standard and is an auto.
I always got around 11.4 except for the couple of weeks before it went bang.
