Hi Folks, Wal here from down south in Warragul in the beautiful South Gippsland hills. I have a 86\" Landy owned by the family from new. Dad bought her, brand spanking new from Warragull Bus Lines. They were the local dealer down here. Just a quick question for the experts how do I find the chassis number on the frame? Cant seem to tell where it is and I took the ID plate of the firewall fixing a welsh plug when I was 20 and its still in the shed, somewhere

Welcome to the forum, Wal - I have one too. My number was on the chassis - rear section, on LS edge, passenger side - just above the hanger for the leaf spring. A scubbing brush and some turps might help discover it. The numbers are reasonably large - maybe about 0.5cm each so you'll find them! :)
If you can't find yours - let me know and I'll post a picture of exactly where mine is.
Looking forward to seeing some pics.

Hi Wal
I'm near Neerim South . Pity the original Warragul bus building was demolished just a few years back... it's a car park now.
I have a few 80" wrecks here . I found 2 up at Vesper , very stuffed from rust in the chassis.
A old chap at Bona Vista drives a 1953 80" around, like your 86, it's been in his family since new .
A friend bought a used 86" from the Warragul bus company in 1969 ... he still owns it , but it needs a full rebuild.
This forum has all the answers ... experts we are , drips under pressure .

Ah,
another Gippslander, I am originally from Yarragon where, yes you guessed it, my Dad brought a 1954 86" brand new from Warragul! He still has his and I have just about finished doing up a 1955 86" for a bit of fun in our local LR Club.
Welcome,
Toad.

An 86'' from Vic it may well be on top of the left front chassis rail, between the left engine mount and the front crossmember.
Pretty big stamp.

Hey Wal I also have an "86 1955 I can't find my chassis number either I gave up when I bought a W/S manual and it stated the only numbers avaliable were the engine number and the vehical number on the plate under the dash.
Us Warragul Ladyites will have to get together and compere notes.
I work at Warragul Machining if your ever looking for repairs, nut, bolts or bearings.
