actually I know where he got the idea for the plate on the bootlid...
I used to have a Gran Turismo Hawk (a studebaker with a great V8 that as I was young I was completely convinced it was trying to kil me!!) anyway, somewhere there will be photos of the bootlid, if you find one you'l see what I mean.
How do we think these panels hanging on the doors etc will go with
a) vibration,
b)dirt, dust, mud
and
c) the Ladies! (does he have matching floor mats?!)
Thank god he didnt get hold of a series 1!

It's hard to tell from the pictures whether it is actual aluminium checker plate or the immitation stuff you can by by the roll that has adhesive backing. I have seen it in Supercheap/Autobarn.
How to wreck a landrover....
I can't look at it anymore.

You bunch of uncaring bastards, isn't it obvious, he's visually impaired and needs the diamond plate to find the front door. ;) hence the need for the bullbar.
*Use of smiley to denote sarcasm*
If you look at the windscreen photo you can actually see the rivets in the doors.

maybe it wouldve been OK if he'd done it with wood panels...??
like the morris woodys or the ford falcon squire wagon (63)
anyway if he ever rolls it onto its side he has a safe grip area to walk on as he climbs out?

reminds me of the legally blind pensioner who recently was granted a driving licence from the NSW RTA (he only went in for a personal id card)
the subjet vehicle could have been more than usually dented of course :)

There are some people in this world who really shouldn't own Land Rovers...let alone defenders:eek:

I saw a wagon recently with the same chequerplate on the doors and sides, the door panels on it looked proffessionally made. At the time I thought it looked hideous, but it would stop the doors getting dented  and it was parked outside supercheap autos

Doesn't get noticed too much, because I live in the area and have never seen it.
Just as well as I would be just as likely to pull him over and beat some sense into him, but after seeing the pics, I do not actually beleive that would be possible.
I can almost sense the sinking feeling he got as he stood back and realised what he had just done, and of course the only way to relieve the shame is to sell it quick smart.
Note to self.
Don't drop acid and decorate my Land Rover.
Here's a quote for you
Chequerplate, looks cool. Put some more on you moron.
