Whats in your camper trailer

so what do you have in your camper all the time?

I have just bought a camper trailer and need some ideas on what to put in there.

Its a Challenge off road trailer with a queen size bed and rear tailgate swing out kitchen.

We are a family of 2 adults and one 7 month old girl.
we plan on doing a lot of touring around the gib river road and trips around exmouth. proberly not doing anything to extream in the 4WD department but will be getting down and dirty

what sort of safety, recovery and spare equipnment and tools should i pack?

l bought some plastic crates which fit inside the storage space under the bed of the camper trailer then each box got dedicated to specific task

Cooking equipment
Tinned emergency food rations
Cleaning material/ toilet rolls
Tent pegs and ropes and mallets
fan belts Fuel filters and funnels spare oil and radiator fluid
spanners and sockets

The only thing we add is food and drink when we arrive, plug the engal into the camper and thats it.
chairs, annex's, linen, utensils, cooking gear, radio, lights, etc all live in the camper.

must weigh it one day:p

maybe the recovery bit might be better in the recovery forum,,
but you never know 'round here,,

Only thing we add when we go away is perishable items, meat and vegies and clothes, fill the water tank and we are off.

All non perishable food and cutlery, dishes, bedding and so on stay in the camper, also certain clothing stays in the camper as well, wet weather and cold weather clothing, shoes and sandles.

Alot of the rest of us are trying to work out what we can get rid of and not take next time.:angel:

I'm the same as already mentioned - fill the water, put in clothes and perishable food and we're off. The easier it is to take off when you want - the more often you will do it. If it's a hassle you'll be less inclined to do the smaller trips (e.g. weekenders)

With food, I have a lot of packet and tinned foodstuffs that regularly stay in the trailer. Also things like sauces (non perishable ones), salt, pepper etc also stay permanently in there.

Most of all go and enjoy it. The more you get out the more you'll come back with different ideas to make it all that bit easier.

I have 2 rated recovery hooks, one under at the back (on the chassis) and one on the draw bar. Have needed to unhitch a couple of times when I've done the 'She'll be right' thing and got stuck or hung up. The hooks give me a point to winch/tow from once i have got the vehicle through.

I must admit, since fitting front and rear lockers, I haven't needed them but oh boy, some of those 'she'll be right' moments have become a bit scarier :twisted: with them.

Just as a passing note, got a great idea from the ex editor of 4x4 on his tv special.... strap your shovel on the draw bar as a skid when towing the camper out of a bog rather than trying to use the jockey wheel which you will probably snap off. Great idea and it does work.

does any body know the dimmensions for platform trlrs / wksp as i believe that they are the most suitable for a camper trailer as you are restricted to having a tent ontop and wasting the use of the trlr
