Good evening viewers and welcome to the Cheeky report
This morning dawned fine and dandy, Cheeky was still a bit scared, she had heard what GHM can be like after some rain.
She kept muttering about how I had promised to buy her new mud tires after Levuka. Anyway we were off, picked up my mate Ian and his son Tyler, who informed us that he wanted to vote.
After that we arrived at the BP at 5 minutes to 9, anyway we still hit the road right on 9am.
Taking the sort cut into the Power Lines, we found Pete ready to go, with his big ass mud tires on.
Not far into the Power Lines and the first delay for the day,
Trav’s motor tried to get out, Justin provided the winching power and Trav could relax.

Upon inspection

Trav found that an engine mount and a gearbox mount had broken.
Justin to the rescue again, reaching into the back and producing 2 mounts
Trav fitted them while we all talked amongst ourselves
Moving on the orange rocket beached itself on a “Bonus Credit” section and also required a small tug

The playground provided the usual entertainment.

Little Red caused some technical evaluation and Re-evaluation of driving lines

A broken Steering tie rod end stopped the Orange Rocked for repairs and yet again Justin reached into his magic box and produced the required part.

Lunch then more driving, followed by more driving.
The battery on my camera was showing flat so no more pictures except for this shot of Pete evaluating Awesome Hill.

Huge Day ended on Ball Bearing hill, another with a technical section
Everybody got through some very rugged tracks with only minor panel damage or none at all.
Thanks Trav for leading and everybody else for making another great day.
We might need to do another day soon as there still are many tracks in this area still to do…

It was an early start after a late night so I was a bit stary eyed I must admit.
Has been a while for Torqit so we were itching to get into it. I think we only just got the tyres dirty and Trav had come to a stop mid hill. As Gaz said the engine mounts had let go. Call me Nostradamas but I had put 2 new genuine mounts in my parts tub along with a full set of new ball joints which were used later on the Orange ute.
So once all mobile we were "Moving forward" as they have been saying of late. Found some great technical stuff with big articulation and the odd wheelstand thrown in. I must admit its an absolute pleasure with an Isuzu under the bonnet for this stuff.
Took a heap of my awsome paint work off and did try to remove the l/h mirror but it did survive.
5 cars was fantastic and thanks to all for a great day.
Justin
RRC parts anywhere, anytime, any more mate:cool:

Thanks for a great day everyone. Good group of cars and people.
No pics from me, but my passenger for the day JohnR has over 500! (come on John!!)
Thanks to Trav and Gary for the efforts put in, and to John for exiting my precariously balanced car which felt like it was going to drop sideways off the rock ledge on Ball Bearing to hook the winch on to stabalise everything!

Thanks Trav for organizing a great trip. Thanks Gaz, Pete and crew for a great day out. Thanks Justing for the spares - I looked at the ball joint when packing tools Fri night and decided that would not need that in my spares kit taking CVs instead.
We have a new name for Justin - MR Spares!
Downloading some pics now so might get a chance to post tomorrow/later today.

Okay, after a good nights rest I can now write this report.
5 Land Rovers (3 Rangies, a Disco and a D90) participated on the trip as below-
Justin and Patrick- Rangie 'Torquit'
keith and Josh- Rangie ute
Gaz- Disco 'Cheeky'
Pete- Defender 90
Trav- rangie 'the bullet'
4 of us set off from the BP at Cabooulture as Pete had to change tyres trackside before the poweline track so it waqs agreed that he would meet us there. It didn't take long to get to the track as Gaz knew a quicker way (pretty easy as well) to the start of the powerline track which is where I planned on starting. Aftyer the usual letting down of tyres etc.. it was time to get into it. Most of the sections of the poweline track were rated at least red so not for standard vehicles at all plus the high probability of panel scrapage and/or damage was likely.
At the top of the second section I had a mishap with some dody engine mounts. These were replaced recently after 'Cruiser so it seemed strange that they broke again a month later. Justin luckly (thanks heaps) had a couple of new ones in his tool kit so I was able to fit one and also used one of his rachet straps to hold the front passenger one down as it was the most swkward one to sort out. Anyway about an hour later it was off again and time for some more fun.
We reached little red, the precursor to big red, one hell of a hill. This was a challenge in itself and took about 4 goes before I got the right line and the bullet just climbed it. Everyone else had no issues apart from Keith and Josh in the orange Rangie ute who broke a track rod end in the most bizzare way. The thread at the end of the taper snapped off and this cause the Rangie to have no steering but once again Justin had the spares and it was fixed in no time although it was awkward in the bottom of a gully.
Big red was bypassed as explained on the reccee last weekend this was far too dangerous for anyone in the wet, if it was bone dry a possibility but the lack of winching and recovering points made this a bit of an ask. This is a G4 rated trip but it's not go out there and roll your Land Rover trip to prove how big your balls are either
Once little red was conqured we did Hennesys hill, this gets tougher every time I do GHM trips. I hadn't done it til recently for about 3 years as the trips in that time had less modified vehicles and begrudgingly I had to bypass it but not this time to my delight. A couple of tricky section that I needed some guidance over and it was all good. The rain from the previous day had made the alternative done last weekend not wise as it could have ended in tears but once this was sorted it was simple to get over and then onto awesome hill.
Once at Awesome, my third engine mount decided it had enough. It was the drivers side one, I suspect when I broke the 2 pasenger side ones it caused a stress break in the drivers side mount. Luckily again Justin had a spare and was easily replaced although because the engine had twisted around a bit when it broke it made it a hard fit. This was at the bottom of Awesome hill but once fixed the sook track was a smart option. None of our group had a go at awesome, maybe it a Jeep hill hey Gaz :(
The last track of the day was shaley or ballbearing hill. The name speaks for itself, wasn't too hard but it's still tricky half way up with a rather large rock step that needs to be negotiated over. The good thing is that the left side of the step was easy enough to get over but you had to get it right or it could have been a painful recovery. Pete knew all too well when his 90 got offline and into a pecarious poisition but was able to winch himself over the step and onto flatter ground. The rest of us climbed the stepwithout too many hassles (on the reccee this happened to me Pete I just knew the right line to drive the bullet up ).
That was pretty much the day, aired up and headed home. Thanks to all of you that attended. I would like to invite most club members but the reality it is a G4 rated trip and although the damage was minimul more mechanical the pics do tell the story.

Ok here are some of my pics from the weekend.
I also have some video of the last step/track but need to figure out how to upload this to UTube.
First track and first break - Trav Air hose came off - possibly where first mount broke hence engine movement. We have had this happen before and it leaves you wondering why car won't start - later on hose split which was a good reminder to carry the old duck tape!

Trav pull one after engine mounts broken
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2010/08/441.jpg
To then fill in time while repairing engine/gearbox mounts we staged a Rangie tug of war - Trav vs Justin tug of war
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2010/08/442.jpg
Orange Ute on bonus track coming out of mud - rear axle got grounded on the high point in middle of the road so need a small tug on Josh to move it - Justin drove round to oblige.

This is the Rangie rejecting the Disco part and trying to scrape it off!

Then some Torqit mud spray

Will it roll or go up - hmmm Pete focused on testing

Ok here is my attempt to upload video - had to figure out how to convert .MOD files from the Canon FS200 to some sort of format for the web - suspect my file sizes are still to large so any suggestions on how to optimize appreciated - fingers crossed this works.
