Paddocks sell one to suit the smaller gel type batteries (optima etc)

Not hard to make your own using 8mm threaded rod and some 20 x 5 mm plate steel, plus a few washers, nuts.

Cheers
Andrew

I’ve got two low profile, no maintenance batteries under the passenger seat of my 2001 TD5. These are a standard battery nothing fancy.

One is the cranking battery and the other is a 500CCH (could be 500+) heavy duty thing. We made a wooden frame to level the floor so the batteries sit across the compartment.

Very tight fit and you have to lift the batteries “in and out” end up. Height was our biggest problem and the no maintenance ones just sneak in.

Also got the dual battery solenoid and associated wiring, auto fuses etc fitted in there.

I know one bloke who has decided to cut the side panel out and make a side door to aid in locating the batteries. Not a bad idea and couldn’t be that hard to do?

I have a Piranha BTDEFDT tray (http://piranhaoffroad.com.au/index.php/default/battery-trays/battery-tray-btdefdt.html) sourced from TJM.

Piranha fittinfg instructions - easy as pie but says not suitable for self fit LOL

I assume the underseat battery box in the Pumas is the same size as in older Dfenders and that this item would suit ?

Suggestion. It's a good idea to stick a rubber sheet underneath the metal plate that covers the battery housing (under the passenger seat). When a second battery goes in, the terminals can get very close to the metal, especially after installing a battery cradle.

If you don't have any rubber sheet, drop me a note and I'll find you a piece - I'm in Bris.
