Has anybody used the Dolium under roof storage nets in defenders? If so, have you found them useful? And how do you go about securing them?

I had been contemplating making up a mesh "tray" for light stuff under the rear cargo roof lining, and above the rear door height, but this might be an option, and one that would be rattle free.

I think Gordon at Opposite Lock South Sydney has one in his Defender. Give him a call. I have always found him very approachable and helpful. Also Dolium seem to run a Defender and they can be quite helpful as well.

We use one in the 90 at times for soft light gear, not bed. We got some metal hooks from Bunnings and hook them over the ledge of the roof. Seems to work ok.

Gordan is a great salesman in that he does not BS and stand by his products he sells so ask him what he thinks and you will get the truth. I wanted more flexibility from a cargo net so I made my own from stitched 50mm webbing that suits my needs and find it extremely useful. I have two tents, a tarp and two sleeping bags permanently held up to the roof lining and I can't see any of it when I look in the rear vision mirror. If the Dolium is as easy to use and does not sag in the centre (rear vison issue?) then I say go for it.

I bought a cargo net from Milford:

Milford Industries (http://www.milfordind.com.au/index.php/selectedContent/1350677028?currentDriven=388493925&currentContent=1973628484)

It is stretchy so not for permanent stowage but great when you have stopped because the coats sleeping bags and all can be stowed there allowing access to the stuff underneath.

Thanks for all the feedback...looks like it should be pretty handy. Would probably need to leave a gap for the interior light, but that should be pretty easy to work around.

I have fitted the Dolium one to my 90 last week. I'm not using it for anything really heavy so i have hooked it up using 4 plugs pushed into the roof lining. It seems pretty strong as the lining itself is quite thick and strong. I currently only have tarps and towels stored up there and it works a treat.
The front is also held upto theroof using the existing plugs that joing the two pieces of roof lining together. This stops anything from sliding out the front with heavy breaking etc.
