hello to you all,I have recently purchased my first landrover(& I love it),but Im having trouble with the idle sometimes, sometimes it misses as well, especially if I go up a hill slowly. The other symptoms are ,it will start easily when cold but as soon as it warms up I need to give it a little throttle while its cranking over to start it...Another thing is its fuel consumption..TO travel 100kms I will use around $48(near half a tank).I have checked my vacuum hoses etc,and my distributor, all seem to be fine.......My landrover is a 1994 V8i(petrol)Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hi, in order:
Ignition timing: set to 10 degrees BTDC
Run quality petrol, no ethanol
Spark plugs should be clean, gap 0.8mm
Spiral core/inductive core ignition leads: Magnecor, Bosch
Cap/rotor, use only genuine Lucas or substitute Bosch GB864 rotor
Ignition amplifier, Lucas is marginal, replacements usually total garbage. Your dissy may look fine but the amp is a common failure. Find a Scorcher dissy, or look here for my suggestion:

I would say that your ECU temperature sensor is dead and it is on full "choke" all the time if it does about 40L per100Km .

There is something definitely wrong with the injection to have that type of economy, unless you are measuring around a race track or have it in low ratio or both together.

So if you are unsure take it to a specialist for a diagnostic check up.
