Help!! problams with re-building R380 gearbox?

Hey all:)

Dad is in the middle of re-building an R380 gearbox for mums disco 1 at the moment.

Everything is all together apart from the gear selector forks:mad:
He has followed the workshop manual and fitted it exactly how they have it pictured in the book. no matter what way they are fitted he still can't get all the gears:mad:

So i was just wondering if anyone on here has re-built one before and can suggest the correct way they go? Any pictures or diagrams would be a great help!!!

We have spoken to a mate who has built one before and he ran into the same problem and after many attempt's to get them right he eventually fluked it:D

Hi out of intrest what gears can he not select when fitted together. also when the selector forks are not fitted do the syncho hubs select ok by hand? also did he remove any of the two dowls from the selector shaft?

Not quite sure which gears he can't select, but he can select the synchro hubs fine without the fork fitted and no dowls were removed:)

Hi, have a look at the inter lock spool there are two types in these boxes. the one that goes on 1st/2nd fork and 3rd and 4th fork has what appear's to be two tags this should be pointing to top and later locked in placed after the main case and small locking guide inserted. the other spool goes on rev/5th fourth and looks symetrical. i have attached a pic if it the attach processed work.
