New FL owner, noticed exhaust smoke?

Hi all. Just bought a 2007 FL, TD4 SE. Has 91,000k's on the clock and in excellent condition. Runs and starts smooth as and absolutely love it. New to diesels and this may be just a little new car paranoia but thought I'd check. Noticed on the way home tonight, with a car fairly close behind with their head lights on and up my clacker, I noticed some exhaust fumes in the rear view mirror. Not a lot mind u, but enough to notice as you can when things are fully illuminated. The car was at running temperature and it seems to only be noticeable when you give it a bit more than normal from the take off. Not flooring it or anything. Would this be normal? Do diesel engines have the same issues with rings, oil usage or are they different? I'd be completely surprised if it was anything like this due to the cars age but just wanted to reassure myself. I haven't noticed in the day, and any fumes at all will be more pronounced with a car behind and lights on. Or maybe diesels are a little more fumey than petrol engines?

Would appreciate any feedback?

Not an expert on this, but I would imagine any diesel motor with 90+k's on the clock would give off a little bit of smoke!!!!:) welcome to the Forum!!:D

I have an 08 td4 and it's been doing that since new. I have diesel Jeep Grand and same thing. I wouldn't worry about it. I think it appears worse in the mirror than it does from behind. Cheers, Mike

its a td4,, there a great engine, nothing will be wrong with it, they do pump out a bit of smoke, thats why they go so well, no smoke no poke:D

i've had a few diesels, they all seemed to blow a bit of smoke at night with a guy right behind you, but it wasn't really noticable at day time. I think it is just a bit of 'soot' that is picked up by the headlights

Yeah its normal. Shouldn't notice it to much during the day unless you put the boot into it.

But at night you see it because of the light.... just normal.
