There has been a couple of threads about D4 Windscreens.
There is a Gorilla in the corner how ever. "The Rain Sensor"
We had our windscreen changed recently and we had the installer use OEM parts. The installer did the right thing and tested the rain sensor before and after. Now sitting on the driveway and spraying water on the screen proved that the system worked (kinda).
The truth is that it wouldn't work while the car was driving. The system would do the first sweep and then nothing....!!
A visual inspection of the rain sensor showed it to be a bit cloudy.
I had the dealer look at the system yesterday and they confirmed the sensor is cloudy and this will affect the performance.
The upshot of all this is I need a new rain sensor which my insurance company will be paying for.
If you get a windscreen changed make sure the rain sensor section is crystal clear when the job is finished.
