ignition problem?

My 2003 defender has recently started to not start as it should when i turn the ignition on the glow plug light doesnt turn on and the fuel pump doesnt seem to sound turned on, after playing with the key turning it on and off it will start as normal? Though it doesnt always do this only after it hasnt been started for sevaral hours. All the other lights on the the dash operate as normal just the engine service light and the glow plug light? Anyone got any ideas???? I did get the car a bit wet recently ;)

Fair chance the electrical part of the ignition switch is falling apart. Pretty common problem.
