Has anybody used the relatively new occy jigs to good effect? I've pulled a few pearlies and squire on a 60g one I bought few months ago, but that's about it. The hooks on them appear a tad small for my liking, but I haven't caught enough on it to give a reasonable assessment.
As for the style of jigging, I tried leaving it in a holder and let the swell do the work, but had more success with a slow retreive.:(

Found the best occi jigs are weight pots/bottles ect, they get inside and you just pull em in, suprising how big of an occi can get in a small pot
cheers

Hey Blaze,
thanks for the reply, but I think we have our wires crossed. I'm thinking along the lines of Shimanos "Lucanus" style jigs of which there seems to be a few manufacturers nowdays.
But as an aside, how do you rate occy's as live or fresh dead bait??? I've never used them but hear they go pretty well.
Cheers.

We have the 100g Lucanus lures here...
Not had much time, but the guys around Arno Bay and Tumby Bay were reefing in Snapper 6-9kg on them in rapid succession in recent weeks..
And were talking.. Cast... Jig.. Strike..

Thanks Tombie,
do you know whether colours or jigging styles play much of a part? They're obviously not having troubles with hookups with the hooks they come with, as they looked a bit small for mine.

Red works well with Snapper, Blue dont seem too bad either...
We have Red/Black, Blue, Gold/Black, Pink/White and Green Yellow.
As for jigging style, use the lighter ones in soft current and heavier in hard current.. The lure tends to 'jig' itself then...
But a nice slow retrieve is in order. I dont retrieve, I just let the tide and waves move the jig.

Looks like I just need to pull my finger out and push the plastics aside for a bit!:)
The one I have is red, so I guess a bit more effort on my part is required...
I'll have to wait for this current swell event to die down before I get out there again.
Now time to wax up the board!
Thanks Tombie...
