Am looking at a December 2006 build Discovery (registered 2007) and don't know whether it has the MY06 upgrade or not..?

Any way I can tell?

What was the MY06 upgrade?

If it is a 2006 build, it should have the initial 06 upgrades - I think the more important points were the upgraded compressor and valve blocks. Sometime in the middle of that year a software update was also available for the EAS. Best way to check is to give the VIN number to an LR dealer.

Cheers,

Gordon

Take out your rego papers and look in the VIN area (or look at the VIN plate on the car): the 10th character of the VIN will be "7" if it is a MY07 with updated EURO4 motor, et al. If it is a "6" it is a EURO3 motor.

If it is a MY07 - make sure the fuel pump recall work was done!

IIRC, the MY07 started being built in August 2006. Mine was built in September 2006, delivered on 29/12/06.

I believe also the dash fascia around the centre instruments changed from Grey to Silver as well as the vents. Silver transmission cover as well. Am I right?

Jonesey - thanks for your post. it has a "7". Will have to contact the dealer for details regarding this 'fuel pump' recall. Fortunately the previous owner had all the services done from the same place to should be able to get a full history.

Vehicle was a December 06 build and purchased in February 07

91Viper - no worries.

While you're at the dealer asking about the HPFP recall (Land Rover?2007 to 2008MY Discovery 3 vehicles and 2007 to 2008MY Range Rover Sport vehicles?High pressure fuel injector pump (http://www.recalls.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/968093)), make sure the brake recall was also completed (Land Rover?Discovery 3 TDV6 and Range Rover Sport TDV6 diesel vehicles (this recall has been extended please see PRA 2010/11848) (http://www.recalls.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/968091)).

In addition to EuroIV engine and changes to fascia as mentioned by HL, the other improvements were one-touch front electric windows and time appearing on the dash information panel. I can't think of much else... maybe leather seats across the whole range became standard?

Cheers,
Rob
