D3 Climate Control

Gday All,

I've had a bit of a search around but none of the other threads seem to describe the same problem.

2007 TDV6 D3 - The climate control works fine in both heating and cooling on startup, but after a variable period of time (10-20 minutes usually - it may be when it gets to the set temp, but not sure), the airflow stops and it all seems to stop maintaining temperature. Sometimes the fan is going like hell (or you can wind it up manually), but nothing coming out of the vents.

The dealer said that it was probably the receiver/dryer and they replaced that but made no difference. The second dealer heard a squeek in one of the air doors and they lubricated it but it made no difference.

Has anyone got any ideas before the warranty runs out and I'm stuck with a hot or cold car? Driving with the windows down is OK when it's hot and you aren't on the highway, but it gets freezing on cold Toowoomba mornings when it initially warms up then gets cold again!

For what it's worth have you checked the pollen filter, if it gets blocked then nothing comes out of the vents

Yep, all clean. It blows well for a while, then stops. That's what is confusing. All I can think of is that one of the air doors is closing for some reason. Are they elecrically or vacuum operated?

Has yours had the foam sock installed on the cabin temp sensor? Helps stop the sensor from getting a false reading.

I that at the left of the steering column? Is the sock behind the grill? I don't think there is anything there.

Early models had temp problems and LR fix was to put foam sock around the sensor. The sensor is at the end of the tube behind the grill. Ask you dealer they may be able to dig out the TSB for it. Could be worth trying fist as it is simple and cheap.

Well, they've cleaned the sensor, so we'll see how it goes. Thanks for the tip!
