I visit fishSA.com fairly regularly. It's not a bad starting place to get a heads up on where the action is.

I have a hard time telling my closest friends where i get my fish , let alone put it on the net . I don't blame them for keeping secret spots secret. !

I be guessing that a "drop" is formally defined as a "hang"?

In the Spencer Gulf there were no longer any natural formations for the fish to "hang" around so locals over the last 80 years "dropped" objects into the gulf to give structures for the Snapper etc to hide around.
These include several boats / ships... Old boilers... Tyres...
Around 80 car bodies..... You name it!

Thought as much - nothing wrong with a bit of artificial reef manufacture. If you are in the business of reef building I have a good cheap fish holding design ;)
Hang up these ways refers more to hanging at anchor... a good night on the reds is a one hang night! Moving in 55m of water is hard yakka when the winch no worky! One hang nights are what you want.

ah yes i see. i have heard of these things. i saw on the news a few weeks/months back how the Fisheries had busted some guys with i think it was car tyres all roped together with cement blocks etc in their boat!
i think they picked it because the boat was sitting so low in the water, ha ha ha.
