hello guys
i am currently modifying my NAS 94 d1 i just replaced my lucas fuel injectors and my clutch fan for a ford Taurus twin speed electric fan and wired it with a twin speed sensor from a 1992 VW Golf .
the next step is to install a thor manifold in order to gain some lower end torque and some more fuel economies and an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator ,and yes i bought an edis 8 to remove the dizzi and for sure full synthetic oils all over .
bosch manifold (http://picasaweb.google.ca/data/feed/base/user/najman100/albumid/5511999987859443969?alt=rss&kind=photo&hl=en_US)
for the future
Raised cold air intake (snorkel).
now the debate is do i keep my 14 cux and chip it with a tornado from rpi (tooo expansive)for less than thant i can go with MS ecu .
did i miss anything anybody have some numbers some pictures please share .
Thank you
Naji M

On a petrol warm air will give you better economy than cold.

He's from Canada, you should probably explain first what warm air is....\
since you have the edis 8 - going full MS is (imo) the best option. The 14 cux wont control it, so you will need the megajolt anyway, or for a few $ more get the full MS.

Didn't see that, I was going to put in a dig about Aussies not knowing what cold air is.:D

Do you have LPG in Canada, if so fit it and the fuel economy issues become kinda moot.
the thor and lpg work well.

The rest of the world pay significantly more for LPG/Propane than Aus does. So much that it's not an economic fuel.

Don't worry about that, our Gov's are increasing the price and if they don’t the suppliers will. Excuse is the propane component cost. I believe its all about loss of revenue which is a % of fuel cost.
Oh and increase in the LPG TAX is also environmentally friendly???????

There are a few members on here which may be able to help, PhillipA's name in particular comes to mind. He is very knowledgeable about ignition systems. So it may be worth sending him a PM to ask for his advice.

I seem to recall that PhilipA has gone to Africa on a holiday. He won't be online for a few weeks...

Tornado and MS is chalk and cheese comparison. A Tornado map is a bit richer compared to the OEM map and therefore using it to modify OEM mechanical advance (both static and dizzy mech curve) to match new AFR is a simple and cheap exercise for finding more power. While next step up of still retaining 14CUX and customising both "timing and fuel" curves/maps together using a piggyback system like Haltech or Unichip is easier for the tuner off the back of a richer map like a Tornado, there is no reason why outcome using a OEM map is any less, albeit the Tornado will have a better injector duty cycle. Either of these two 14CUX modification aproaches is relatively cheap quick and easy before dyno time / $.
The alternative of ditching OEM timing and 14CUX fuel mapping and starting from scratch us MS and electronic ignition control while it involves less capital cost, it requires a lot of knowledge, time and patience to get the same outcome as the above two simple 14CUX modification approaches.
PS I am not familiar with Edis8 contoller however Silicon Chip/Jaycar (in Aust) sell cheap simple kits for electonicaly programing ignition using distributer.
