Folks,

where does one purchase a sand anchor ?

What do you need to look out for ?

What prices are these usually ?

Is it a case of you get what you pay for ?

I have been thinking if you have no trees around etc. which is the case in the places I go too these things might be good and easier than burying a tyre etc.

it needs to be rated, probably to about 12000kbs, and be stamped to say that..

you can pay as little as $100 for one, or up to about 4/500... but so long as it has the rating i wouldnt be to fused..

but why not six star pickets and abit of rope, will save you the money...

what you need to look out for.. it needs to be angeled right, otherwise it comes straight out the ground and into your head.. doesnt look pretty there...

I've not ever seen a sand anchor in a shop, you can buy them online...

there was a road test on these awhile ago, the 3 tested - came out of the ground before the vehicle moved... I personally prefer star pickets..

Hi Pc3 - there was a thread about this recently (which might have been an old thread resurrected...) but reckon a quick search should find it.

I've always thought that a sea-anchor would be a good option :p

Yeah - found the thread: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/recovery/109193-winch-recovery-no-trees.html

This is the sea anchor I was thinking of: Super SARCA Anchor - anchorright.com.au (http://www.anchorright.com.au/products/sarca-anchors)
