Hi all,
Bit of a noob to the forums but have been considering taking the plunge to buy a new Disco 4 HSE. Took one for a test drive last week and loved it.
How much should i be paying? What kind of discount can i expect?
Thanks,
Blue

Do as search. This question was canvassed about 2 months ago. I think the current offer they have in the daily's at present is about par.

Being new to the forums and not having any success trying to search for such a thread, i just wanted to take the time to thank you for investing your time to help me answer my question and for the value-add you have provided.
I really appreciate it. :)

Welcome, Bluevein' ;)
Sorry no idea on the price of an HSE but generally the best price will be RRP as a final on road cost.

looks like about $95k here (http://www.drive.com.au/new-cars/LAND+ROVER/DISCOVERY+4/64303920100701/?pg=1&pp=1&SG=953607728&pt=5)

I suppose it depends on what extras you are looking for on top of the HSE? I would think an HSE for 95k would be an extremly good buy. What is in the HSE that the SE doesnt give you?

If you can get a HSE for $95k then its a bargain!!!
I was told they were $100k UP

I don't think the sarcasm is really warranted, do you? Your question is on par with a piece of string and the length thereof. How can anyone give you a reasonable response to "what size discount can I expect?"?? We don't know where you are ("NSE"??), we don't know your relationship with the various dealers, whether you're looking for new, demo, s/hand etc etc. I think that, as it was covered only a little while ago, the search suggestion was a good one. If you responded that you couldn't find the thread, I'm sure someone (probably Admiral) would have happily taken the time to find it for you and post up a link.
No need to be snooty ..........

It has been said before, we could give a little more leeway to new members, its a better way of welcoming them. Just look at how long they have been on the forum and how many posts they have made. bluevein even said he was a noobie.
If you have been on a while you will know how to search and if it has been covered before.
Maybe listen to what he said rather than how he said it.

Caver3 is on the money ( no pun intended). On the road for RRP is about as much as an individual can expect + options. Don't forget the eDiff or to make sure you specify wood if you want it, a few have been coming through without as it has become a NCO.

OBT,
The Wood/Piano Black has always been a NCO (No Cost Option) it just depends on whether the dealer ticks the box or not, otherwise you automatically get the grey plastic trims as standard.
Aparrantly with the 11MY specs this will change & become a chargable option, not 100% sure just the rumors from some of the sales people.
Cheers.

Welcome Blue,
As a few members have already said, the best at the moment is RRP plus on roads, you may be able to get the "on roads" waivered if your good at barganing.
There are not a lot of vehicles available at the moment especially 3.0 TDV6 HSE's as there was a delay in build of this spec.
But look around & see what is on offer, you may find a dealer wanting to offload their demo as they have another arriving as a few boats have docked throughout the country.
There may also be a few vehicles that have arrived that the client does not wish to take delivery any more (long wait?) so good luck & keep looking.
Cheers.

I hope it wasnt me being sarcastic... It was meant to be... I am also a newbee.
I was lucky with my Disco 4 TDV6 SE. There was a shipment of 4 or 5 coming in and one fitted my requirements to a 't', so I only waited 2 weeks instead of the 4 months on the HSE!
Now I am very happy...

Welcome Bluevein and don't be put off.
Realistically, whatever you end up paying you will soon forget the figure and fall in love with the car. Whether it's a HSE or SE may not matter too much in the end. Just grab whatever is available and enjoy.
All the best.

Thanks for all the helpful responses. I haven't yet considered all the options i want, but i definitely want the active rear diff (i assume that is the eDiff you are referring to). Also the top of the line sound system and comfort pack.
I guess i wanted some indicative figures on some of the best deals people have got on the HSE with a few of the common options or at least know how much i can haggle them down. ie 10%
Are there many Disco 4 HSE owners out there?

Wicked! I bet you are very chuffed with your buy. May i ask how much you paid for it (on road) and what options you got?

Not even my wife knows those details, and she's still annoyed about how much it cost. There's no escaping that dilemma. Just spend the money and live with the consequences. Mine's an SE and the consequences have been worth the grief, so whatever you choose will be completely wrong .... and completely right when you drive it.

My wife was the opposite, wanting to get any option that could possibly be used including the HSE++. We only got the SE because I wanted the 3.0 but the 2.7 would have served our use just as well and cost significantly less. I still haven't told anyone how much I spent to get 3.0, not even family, although I happily spend the total vehicle cost on farm inputs each year without any guarentee of a return.

Not having a go but it's interesting. When I asked the question on the ozhonda forum a year ago there were dozens of responses with an actual figure and a list of inclusions. There must be real fat in a hse. There is usually about 3k in a 45000-50000 dollar vehicle - although at that end of town there is a big whack of luxury car tax to bend over for

I ordered mine April 28 2010 and it landed Port Melbourne on 3 September; I expect it in the drive in late September........, with Rear E-diff, high beam assist, cold climate pack, premium leather upgrade, and twin headrest DVD players (non LR) it was $110K "drive away". I was told in April "we cant haggle - the queue for HSE's is a mile long". I believed it. (?!) and it seems to have been true.

Hi Bluevein, and welcome to the forum...
I'm in Melbourne, and I ordered my HSE in Nov 2009 with surround cameras, cold climate pack, sunroof, and metallic paint. I got 3 quotes: $106,500, $108,000 and $110,000 on the road.
Naturally I went with the cheapest. It turns out the salesman (who is no longer there) misquoted but the dealer honoured the quote (or so they say). However, after that it was a comedy of errors. To cut a long story short when my vehicle arrived in June 2010 it didn't have the sunroof!
Moral of the story: because there is such a long wait time keep in regular touch with the dealer and make sure you see the paperwork they put in on LR when they order your vehicle from the UK. Check the options very carefully!
Anyways, even though the wait seemed like an eternity in hindsight it seems insignificant. The car's an absolute cracker!

When the RRP, Options, Dealer Delivery, LCT, GST, Gov Stamp Duty, & other on roads are taken into account the undiscounted price would be ~$85,282. So, your deal equates to a discount of ~$12,800.
Nice! :D
I had a few more options (metal paint, sat nav, stereo ugrade, rear camera, auto high beam assist) on my 2.7 D4, and ended up with a discount of $14,836 off the recommeded on road price. Also from the same dealer.:D

Hi Guys,
Just quick note from another newbie, I happened to see some paperwork on a dealers desk and it pretty much says that they have $4350.00 wriggle room on an D4 SE before options. However due to the current demand most salesmen just seem to stand their ground and tell you if you don't like the price then keep walking :mad: {cheeky buggers, it's unaustralian not to haggle a little LOL}

Checked around a number of dealers. Used some broking companies that said they could get me the best price. (they couldn't!!) Got a better price over the phone than what Brokers could get.
HSE TDV6 with Elec Rear Diff and Auto Hi Beam Assist in Fuji White $98.2k on road. Was quoted RRP of $104.8k on road for these options.
Settled for this price. Five+ Months delivery time, so there was not much more bargaining I could do. Ordered in early May, should be here end of October. Not too much longer.

That's true....... As I know SE will on special end of year so maybe better then? I was told RRP can be driveaway.
