Hello! I have a defender td5 but the wife whats to upgrade the 07 Kia Rio into a proper car. We are willing to spend about 60k I know I can get a new freelander 2, a used d3 or maybe even a used RR sport (rr sport would get my money any day!) but its the wifes decision and she likes the freelander 2. The car will be used as a town car only, she does 15,000klms per year and will keep the car for 5 years. She would prefer an automatic, which engine (for our use) is best suited to her. I will consider all, Resale value, economy, performance etc

Mum had a lm vogue befor the fl2 and she loves it.. it only doses town trips and shes not the best a parking.. never had a prob with it.. the td4 is one strong engine.. at work wev had very little problems with freelanders. The bigest prob we had thru was the rear diff wineing.. youl be very happy with one

I have had a FL2 diesel for 3 years and I've got no problems recommending it, great car. I was thinking of getting rid of it after the three years but I'm still enjoying it so I'll probably keep it for 5 years.

My boss just ditched his wifes X5 for a new FL2.
She loves it. They got the SE model and went to a car hifi place to get a Pioneer sat/nav/DVD/bluetooth up-grade for $2500 installed.
Better than the claimed $8k from Land Rover.
Total cost is $61k and thats with the upgrade kit and 19inch wheels in Black and cream leather, sunroof etc.

Looks great, oh and the engine is a 2.2L tdi witha 6 speed auto.
Drives great.:p

Ok thanks guys! we were in perth today so we went to southerns cannington for a look around. I think the wife has decided on a new FL2 td4 auto SE burgundy with cream leather interior. A lot of coin for a run about, but my daughter is getting her license in about 3 months so she will get the Rio. havent placed an order yet, will be heading back to perth in 2 - 3 weeks and will talk dollars with the sales team then :p thanks again for your input, one test drive of the diesel got me hooked, it has a load of grunt. plus the resale should be better on a diesel
