As i have had a very ruff time of late with faults causing engiine to stop to go in limp mode and to completly cut out not even nanocom can get in

so lots of searching has been done and mainly from european site and many languages to get through anyway i have come across some real valuable stuff i will start with all the codes a TD5 engine will produce there are also a forum in Holland which is breaking down the faults to what could cause them which is very handy

ALWAYS REMEMBER THESE FAULTS CAN HAVE MANY REASONS FOR THEM BEEN THROWN THESE ARE MY AND OTHER MEMBERS EXPERIENCES FAILED ECU CAN THROW ALL THESE FAULTS FOR NO REASON TO.

Thanks for that,I will make this thread sticky.I wonder where injector number 6 is located????
I wonder if the codes also relate to the L322 TD6????

Thanks for the list of codes.
I am still waiting for a reply re: my Nanacom purchase

I tripped over this list of codes for the TD5 whilst trawling the web tonight.
Mine's bigger than yours!:D

There's thousands of them. ( U.S. site)

New Page 1 (http://www.muddyoval.com/articles/generalinfo/TD5codes.htm) (testbook codes)

I am yet to work out the significance of the numbering.
Someone more knowledgable may make sense of them.
(p.s I believe they are OBDII ...Testbook codes?)

Anyway I'll chuck it in the ring..

Cheers
Bob

LOL  no :p

yeah i was wondering about that could be td6
here is the web very good site
http://www.landroverclubholland.nl/index.php/forum/12-techniek/723606-nanocom-codes

if any body has experienced any of these faults post up what was the cause and symptons and we will add it to next to the fault code this will be a lenghty job so keep it straight to the point

Hmmmm, my Evo must be displaying the wrong codes then.
23-05 is sposed to "underboost" whereas the Evo throws it up as SVS electrical failure unless SLABS codes are different to engine ECU....

I'm getting the exact same code at the moment, along with the the 3 amigos.

Can anyone enlighten me as to why does it say 023 times, even if it only has occurred once?

I have the same fault, also showing 23 times??

It's the log of how many misses it's had. I get 20 times on mine with ABS sensor faults.
On a Nano1 it's 254 times before it throws a code so I'm thinking there's a calc fault in the Evo. With any luck it's been dealt with in the next Evo software update. Might msg Colin and ask.....

I have a "Faultmate MSV2", and after much trial and error, have manged to get it to connect and diagnose the "faults" on my Disco 3 TDV6.
I see reports that others have (apparently), managed to get useful service from these units; I am still trying.
Does anybody know where I go to find out what the indicated faults on an MSV2 refer to?
Cannot seem to find it in the intructions.

Dragging one from the depths here - same fault - also 23 times??

D2a TD5

Odd.

D2a TD5

Odd.

Fault codes are ecu specific. SLABS codes can't be decoded using the TD5 codes.
Not sure why the commonality of 23 - perhaps the person who wrote the ECU code was a William Burroughs fan?

I found friends list is. I believe that refer to td5. one of the codes I received my nano combines

[mod note: unnecessary generic p-code list deleted]

List is located here: http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php'showtopic=19834&p=201693

I found friends list is. I believe that refer to td5. one of the codes I received my nano combines

That list is definitely not for the Td5, the "cylinder #6, #7, #8", "bank 1" and "bank 2" related codes should have alerted you to that. :D

After a google it's a generic P-code list someone posted to a UK defender forum.

The codes the Nanocom reports for the Td5 don't correlate with OBD P-Codes. If you need want some help with the fault codes please post up a new thread in the main electronic diagnostics forum with the codes and the messages the Nanocom reports. You can make life easier for yourself if you save the codes to SDCard and then cut and paste the exact log of faults.

cheers
Paul

Paul if your car has all those faults sell it quick:p

If I was going to sell it, it would be down to the failing Auto and the TC that is starting to leak from every cover plate.
And none of those things register fault codes.

Great stuff Paul. You're a genius for putting up those code lists.

I've been slowly compiling a list over the last year which is a pretty close match. Nice to see some of the gaps filled/confirmed as blank.

Do you happen to have a list of codes for the SRS, BCU and ACE systems? They're the ones I'm having a lot of difficulty finding info for.

Cheers

Steve

I can have a look.

The AbS/SLS codes were fairly straight forward because the bulk of the codes are listed in the old Defender ABS Nanocom docs. The listings in the firmware don't have any code numbers but at least are in numerical order with "no fault" in the gaps.

If I can get a few reference code numbers together I should be able to fill in the gaps.

Cheers
Paul

FWIW I'm not reverse engineering anything to get at the codes.

Many thanks Paul!

I have one or two SRS ones in the archives if that is any help. I've also captured the auto Trans and climate control ones in a spreadsheet. They were fairly easy to find in the landrover manuals. When I get near a real computer and not this lobotomised tablet I'll upload them.
Cheers

Fault codes have been extrapolated from reported codes.
Testbook (and probably Hawkeye) reports error codes as sequentially numbered from 0001 to 0048, which I prefixed the Nanocom codes with. The (fault code x) refers to the Testbook error number.
Please let me know if there are any errors.

Steve,

The D2 BCU module doesn't have any method for storing or retrieving fault codes. I have read that the alarm portion will store codes relating what caused the last trigger event but the Nanocom doesn't provide this information.

Paul, here is another shot taken today. This related to the same ABS shuttle issue I posted originally but now has a different code.
I replaced the SVS with one of the you beaut Falconworks ones with the mofified seal kit. Been good for about 12-18 months but the inspection plate on top of the ABS unit has very light fluid leaking from it when you take it off.
Im assuming its fouling the switch but havent got so far as to pull it down again yet.
I am curious as to the Nanocoms accuracy in reporting codes as this now has a totally different code again and is the same fault as you show in 11-4.
My Evo is running the July update.

Cheers

Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

Not sure about that one but I have a suspicion it is actually 11-4. The code descriptions have no corresponding code numbers in the listings I've been able to extract but they are in order with gaps in the sequence filled with "no fault".

A LR Tech Bulletin published in 2007 on ABS faults lists:

1.6 - Shuttle valve switch (SVS) long term supervision
11.1 - One sticking SVS
11.4 - SVS electrical supervision failure

You can also compare this with the listing on the ABS Amigo site

Disco II ABS Codes (http://www.rswsolutions.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=38&Itemid=65)

Even the old Nanocom Defender ABS-TC module docs (the Td5 Defer uses a variant of the WABCO type-D system) has a fault listing that ends at "11,4 shuttle valve switch electrical failure"

So, if there is a discrepancy between the numbering in my list and what the Nanocom is reporting I'd point the finger at the Nanocom ;)

cheers
Paul

I wonder if the codes also relate to the L322 TD6????

Hey there guys.

I am running crazy with a failure code i can't fix.
So the main problem ist, that the rare suspension won't get on lecel on the right sight.

Fault Code:
06-08
rare right sensor electrical failure.

so now i went along and changed the sensors on both sights (just to be sure) but now none of the rare supsensions will pump up properly even tho the compressor ist working.
Then sometimes again the left one is working, but the right one won't move at all.

What did i do wrong or better how could i fix this?
