What would it cost and where would I take the heads off my Landy (1985 3.5l County V8) to have the valve seats hardened so it can handle unleaded without additives?

I need a Sydney based shop, maybe in the Blacktown area.

Any special traps in removing and replacing these heads?

The heads in the V8 are already hardened and suitable for LPG and Unleaded use - no additives are needed.

Definitely as Garry says. This engine is a low comp suited to low octane petrol when it was new, any unleaded will run the same without any mods or added lube.

correct, the only rover engines that cant handle unleaded are the 6 pot and 4 pot series and even then the 4 pot goes a damn long way before it needs attention.

Thanks to all for advice. This is one less thing to worry about. My LR is back in the shop after having a clutch and gearbox overhaul...its leaking gear box oil from the cover just behind the sump...and there is a wheel bearing whining.

But the new alternator is working.

After 12 months I have yet to get more than 20ks from home!!

Thanks again
