Ok to the mass intelegent. Who can tell ne the correct torque values for tightening the wheel nuts.

Two different wheel sets:
Steel nuts on steel rims?
and
Mag nuts on Alloy boost rims?

Many thanks,

its 100

Nm for ally

Ftlb for steel

and 130 ftlb for the heavy duty HOWEVER....

IMHO 100 ftlb is sufficient for the heavy duty, try taking of a set thats been done to 130ftlb with a stock rover wheel nut spanner after they've been on for a while and got a touch of contamination or rust-tite and you make a pretty pretzle spanner.

Never had a problem with 125lb/ft on the HD rims but I always carry a breaker bar too and tension with a tension wrench :D

The 120-130lb/ft came out on a tech bulletin after HD wheels were coming loose/undone in service.

yeah, I always had the feeling that the reported cases were done with the 1 click of the elbow type torque wrench...

Cannot answer the question however here is a tip for those travelling.
Invest in a torque stick -they are made to place between the enthusiastic rattle gun user at your in the back of nowhere tyre shop and your precision wheel nuts and studs.

They are a metal shaft that twists to negate further tightening when they reach a certain torque.

I do know that Snap On makes a set but I would think that they would be available elswhere.

A good investment, especially when your are in the great outdoors and do not have a 40 ft extension bar to undo your wheel nuts cos the local put on an enthusiastic but inexperienced young fella.

Sheesh, there's always one.... :lol2: <edit> actually just realised your probably answering Pat above, but the info below is good for those that don't know

How about 163-177Nm for the HD rims :p

DETAIL
A number of reports have been received which indicate vehicle vibration after the fitment, removal and refit of
the latest heavy duty wheel rims. Investigation has shown that the torque figure being used by Dealers when
tightening wheel nuts is insufficient.
It is important that these particular rims are tightened to an uprated torque figure to ensure that the conical
end of the wheel nut locates correctly in its mating cone on the wheel rim.
It should be noted that the new rim is visually different to the old, in that there are a series of relief holes
around the centre of the rim, (refer to illustration below).
A Workshop Manual update covering this information will be issued in due course.

ACTION REQUIRED
When refitting heavy duty wheel rims, torque the wheel nuts to 163 to 177 Nm (120 to 130 lbft).

I was going to put a thread up about this as I'm fitting new brakes on the L322 and want to know the right torque so I don't warp my new disc's,100Nm it is. Pat
