Hi All,

Doing up a County / Bitza and the PO had installed Series type Selectro FWH on the front so he could 'play in the sand'. So having a hub now drilled for 6 bolt x 10mm, I thought I'd use this stronger format for the drive flanges. So, I got myself a pair of Series fine spline flanges, but there is a stopper ring in the splines, I presume that this is to stop the axle moving through the flange and allowing the unijoint to rub against the inside of the Series stub axle. See pic.

I'd like some suggestions as to what to do now please, as I still want to use the 6 bolt pattern on the County hub.

Thanks and Cheers,
Daryl.

I have never seen one like that before. S111 usually have a circlip outside the flange to retain the axle.

Btw - I drilled and tapped my flanges and hubs to 5xM12. If you do that you don't need to change drive flanges. Some guys in the US have also done 10xM10.

Thanks for that Ben.

Having it already drilled for 5 x 8 and 6 x 10 makes the gap between two of the pairs of holes just too close to run the 8mm holes into 10 or 12mm. It already looks like a piece of swiss!

Unfortunately I had only 'felt' one of the rings, which didn't feel like it had any split / start / finish to it. I just tried the other ring and 'der' sure enough there was the slightest start, so I sharpened up a welding rod and shoved it along the spline. It split and came free. It comprises about 1.8 coils of aprox 0.5mm spring steel.

Now all that's left to do is drill out the Series flanges to 10mm.

Again, Thanks,
Daryl.

OK, so now I'm intrigued.

Does anyone know what that ring actually does??

Thanks,
Daryl.
