3 weeks ago a boat hit my wife on her way to work in the Defender. It has taken this long for his insurance party to finally (sort of) come good. Vehicle was dropped off to panel beaters this morning for repair. Cutting it fine. We do our long planned trip to Longreach next week.
Panel beater cannnot get replacement parts from anywhere in Australia. He has to order from UK. So now how long? Grrr.
Can you believe there isn't a single Defender bonnet in the Country.

If it doesn't have to be new then Triumph Rover Spares or British Off Road would probably have one from a wreck. Otherwise get them to see if they can request if the parts can be airfreighted from UK, should only take 2-3 days then.

What model Defender is it?

Tell them you are happy for them to use 2ns hand bonnet as long as it's in "as new" condition.

This approach saved my vehicle from being written off when I kinda rolled it.

2008. Less than 2 years old.Still love it enough to want new parts added. Just frustrated that it can take so long. Have family arriving from os on saturday and was hoping to show off my much talked about Defender. Now it will have to be booked in again for after they've left.

I just had to get a new driveshaft and two x Uni's, they had to come from the UK, 3-1/2 week week for parts to arrive.

Lets hope your bonnet turnaround is a little quicker!

I do have the SVX. As far as I know the bonnet is identical. The repair was going to be done and the SVX bonnet decal added in the future when it arrived. It's not the decal holding it up. Apparently our panel beater, who was recommended by the dealer, has called all around Aus for parts. AS far as I know its not anything SVX specific that he can't source.

Give ULR in Melbourne a call and ask for Josh in spares, very helpful dude, like I said, he just left a voice message today to say my bonnet arrived safe and sound and will be on the courier and here in the next day or 2:)

Thanks for all the advice. However no matter what now, it won't be ready this week, so panel beater can take his time and source everything. At least he managed to straighten bonnet so it can at least now be opened so I can check oil etc.

Kenley, first thing tomorrow morning, give ULR a call.

Tell them your name is Matt from Yinnar South & you need to change the bonnet's destination to Eatons Hill.

Sorted.
