Hi Brian!
Most of the info is in a thread over at 110 def county section, but basically I have a V8 1985 110 available in rough but straight and rust free condition, so all the rangie running gear which is 110 anyway, will be going in.
It is white, with A/C, and will be getting my Wolf rims (In white), a colour coded ARB winch bar and winch, all my Traxide electrical items like SC80 and headlamp/ driving lamp kits, the HF radio, UHF etc.
This will be the touring rig and DD for me, it still has the original sagging suspension and ride leveller, complete and un ruined but in need of a resto. I have all the window channels and packers coming, the window rubbers, a set of lamps and county stripes. It'll remain white and will be resprayed after the mechanicals are seen to.
This is the vehicle I have been wanting all along, so very happy!

Hi Arthur!
Hope you two are well. Might try and give you a call soon, is the Mobile OK to reach you on?
Unfortunately, the bit I don't want to think about, is that it will be Scrapped:(:(. With any luck, I may be able to find the body shell a good home, the Longranger tank and a few other bits that won't fit the County will be available. A sad end indeed, but it has served its purpose well and all good things must end at some time.
....:(:(:(

Hello Justin, I sent you a PM few days ago but I know that you are very busy.
We are well and looking forward to go to back there.
The mobile is OK and always with me.
Also I am on Skype, easy to find, the only one with my surname in Qld :)

Good to hear JC. Sounds like you will end up with a good robust tourer. Let us know if you need help/assistance with any bits - you never know I may have it. Talking about load levellers, I just recently removed my inner rear coils and refitted the boge unit. I had forgotten how soft they ride with the leveller.:):)

I don't think RR classics deal with the constant abuse of rough stuff as well, mine had alot of fatique also, considering it was completely stock when i got it and 45k of my ownership it definately began to show!

just fatigue and age showing. It is definately saveable, in fact I am a bit sad that it has to happen and if I had a complete replacement running gear set up I wouldn't do it. I may still do that IF I can find some suitable diffs, engine and trans etc etc
As Matt says, hard work isn't good for RRC longevity.
It has been fitted with a 3" body lift, Isuzu 3.9, 4spd LT95, and intercooler etc etc so it has seen a few angle grinders etc in its time:o. All neat though, but modded all the same. What needs to be done is roof off, A pillars welded up, roof lining repaired, bulkhead strengthened, dash tightened up, a very, very minor rust issue in one sill,(A bubble basically) and thats about it. I am going to change over to a 110 at this point for the strength and load space, and the ease in which roll over protection can be added. I WILL miss the Rangie, and dearly hope someone will keep it going. It'll also go with the longranger tank, the ACE system (Currently disconnected) and a TJM winch bar.
Still undecided as to its fate really.

Hi Damien, No, this is also the other reason for change, the internal cage was going to cost a fair bit, and encroach a fair bit too. The issue being I didn't want the interior of my 'family' tourer to resemble a race car, the 110 can have an external cage and is way cheaper to fit/ manufacture.

:D I know, BUT the age old weak link of a smaller chassis and body mountings than a 110 still means fatigue and rattles/ squeaks etc etc in the future.
I have driven heaps of hard used 110's and been surprised at how tight they still feel compared to Rangies and Discos etc.
I will miss the imperious driving position and style of the RR, but a vehicle for life is a Diesel 110 IMHO.

Too right:( At least the Misses isn't driving, she isn't all that impressed with the idea actually:(. :(She accepts it is a GOOD idea, just not an enjoyable idea in her opinion. I have swayed her at the last minute with promises of a seat of her choice, and a clean and neat interior with efficient A/C.
Boy, have I got a lot of work ahead of me....:o:D
Talk soon then!

Ha JC, we should just swap cars, I really like the rangie, just that now have spent so much on it. The last thing I need to do is finish the doors off, (you mentioned your bought stuff for your doors where did you get the stuff from?) then I need to paint it.
In my county I fitted a after market Red Dot aircon that sits between the two front seats and behind the center cudy box, it works really well very happy with it.

That's a great idea, shame my current wholesaler is getting out of the auto A/C game...
Hmm, I wonder if they have any Red Dot systems they need to offload cheap :D
What's the model # ?
I can then get rid of the damned encroaching Tdi one. ;)
