Hi Folks, I know I am lowly Defender owner but I have a friend that is sick of the Jackaroo and is considering a series 3 Disco. Any info beyond what is covered in the following thread would be appreciated. Like what to lookout for, which is best, they want diesel and would use it off road for day trips, weekend trips and long outback trips with camper trailer. 2 adults and 2 kids.
I have sent them this link. http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/52816-d3-advice-buying-car.html
Thanks

Don't sell yourself short the 110 is very capable vehicle, some people buy D3 for Prestige while others use them to get the job done. If they are looking for one to do a lot of 4x4 look on top of the rear diff to see if it is fitted with a solenoid as this means that it has the E-diff locker making it an extremely capable 4x4. Have one on mine,it's the best.

Hi Landy110,
I guess that the main things to decide is whether he wants:
- auto or manual (both very good)
- coils or airbag suspension. Coils are trouble-free once you've got aftermarket coils, such as King Springs. Airbag susp. is more versatile, with Terrain Response.
- 5 or 7 seats. 7 seats is only available with airbag suspension.
- Quality of sound system, interior leather, sat nav, rear entertainment system, sunroof etc.
HTH,
Peter
PS: Some people prefer 17"wheels as this allows more options and bigger side walls. However, the range for 18" wheels is getting better.

Tell your friend not to do it!
He will only fall in love with it & have a PermAgrin!
This leads to problems with the Missus ( they get jealous), finding excuses to drive it, finding places to challenge it and reasons to go to the garage and look at it.
No, it's not all beer & skittles owning a D3 - all sorts of problems involved.
AND you friends pick on you for having a PermAgrin!:D

Funny thing is that when we go on club trips and the going gets tough, she gets out of the Jack and straight in with me in the 110. She can't see herself driving one though.
