Spend a little less and get a Canon G12 which is a better camera than the 1000D. Or spend a little more and get a 550D.

Hi,
I just bought myself a canon 500D, as I already had a film EOS 620, with 2 EOS lenses. A 35-105 and a 75-300 Ultrasonic.
As film is running out in preference to digital, I had to have a DSLR, for my 2 EOS lenses.
Settled for the 500D because it was reasonably priced, and also had HD movie capability, and this model is almost as good as a 550D, and much more reasonabally priced. The main differnce to the 550 is that the 550 is 18M pixel and the 500 is 15 M pixels.

For an extra about $100, get the 500D and get upgrade from 10M p to 15 M p as well as getting HD movies.
Have to say that I am very satisfied with the 500D.
Send me a PM if you want to know more
Cheers

The 500D also has better processor and better autofocus than the 1000D. As well as other features. Very much a better camera.

I recently purchased a 550D and have been most satisfied with it. Was as close to a 5d mkii for my budget!
