Really Angry now!
I believe I am well within my rights to expect that when a car is sent away by truck, to have the engine rebuilt again, that it will be returned in the same condition as it left.
I have had the car back for just over a month and have done nearly 1000k's. I'm trying to get the K's up so i can change the oil, which should hopefully get rid of the rattle/ticking during cold start up. Anyway today I was under the car looking when I found this:

Not to mention that the upper windscreen finisher blew off on the freeway the other day. Turns out when they replaced the windscreen, they glued it on.
What have i done to deserve all this!!
And I need to have the torque converter rebalanced to stop a vibration issue i'm having.

That's sloppy =/ Was it the transporter or the rebuilder ? Who did you end up using for the rebuild ?
p.s. Good to see you back in action :D

wonder if they tried to winch it off the truck forgetting it was tied down...:(

Hey Junosi, yeah i'm back on the road, in a 95 Verada which we brought. The rangie has done a couple of trips to geelong, but I must say i'm not overly impressed with the rebuild that TRS did. They didn't even remove the motor. And it also has the same cold start noises. I'm not sure whether you heard, but the the previous rebuild had completely stripped the lobes off the cam.
Surely it would take a bit of force to break the tie downs. They replaced the windscreen for me too ( i paid for it ) so i'm a bit concerned as to whether the truck had a stack on the trip?

Most trucks i see these days tie down with a strap around the wheel. Did you see how they had it tied down?

Most trucks i see these days tie down with a strap around the wheel.
Which is the correct way to do it. It allows the vehicle to move on its suspension while still being firmly attached to the tow truck.
I worked for Outback Vehicle Recovery in Alice Springs for 5 months and we only ever tied vehicles down via the wheels or axles.

Considering that the Driver didn't even have a torch when he picked it up at 8:30 at night makes me wonder whether he knew what he was doing.
Tying down by the wheels seems to be the best way, as i agree it allows the vehicle to move.
Do you think they should fix it?
This car is really costing me money. Not because its a range rover, but because every dickhead that touches it, makes it worse.

its possible that the driver of the truck tried to winch the car onto the tilt tray with the park brake on and its just bent it, not good.
I have seen standard tie down points break whilst being winched onto trucks after smashes, but a busted tie down point is the least of their worries.

All four Tie downs are bent and one is completely broken. I reckon they've tied down using the tie down points, and its been a really wild trip to adelaide.

That sucks Stu, you've had a bad run of luck. Hope this is the turning point for you.
Not that it matter now, but am sure I've seen a "transport lock" setting in the FaultMate and also EAS Unlock s/w. Guess it either drops the car to the bumps or disables EAS self leveling.

You are mean to put an extra fuse in the fuse box under the seat (fuse11 or 15 it think, cant remeber off the top of my head). And this is for towing and tansportation. It disengages somthing in the gearbox. The faultmate would do somthing similar i would think.

Hey Guys,
I got my car back after a quick tow from rockhampton to kingaroy, and found tonight that my left front recover point has been almost ripped from the chassis, and that is the one that i had strengthened. I remember them using it to tow the car on to the tow truck to get it to the mechanics and then i didnt see it after that. The tow truck then took it to kingaroy and i have only even looked at it tonight when i was fitting the bash plate (yay i have a prototype).
I think that they tow it up to the truck on the recovery point and then tied down the wheels and left the winch on the recovery point...uuuurggghhh...
so yeah!! totally unhappy!!!

If that has done that to your recovery point they have probably done you a favour, If it can't handle that then at best it is a tie down. At least this way no one got hurt
