It is a Buchanan body but the chassis it is on is anyone's guess. Originally made and promoted to rebody T series MG's but got fitted to many others. The wheels say TD or TF.
Spot on, this one is TD

There is no immediate prospect of steam power making a come back on the road; steam is not the victim of a conspiracy theory, the thermodynamics are just not right. Bugatti Type 57 Atlante. One sold for 3 1/4 million pounds not long ago. Its provenance was well known and it had been in storage for 50 years so was complete and original. Many Bugatti are fakes or bitzers. If considering buying one then it would be prudent to regard the car as a fake until positively proven otherwise. At one Historic event in Europe or UK three Bugatti turned up with the same chassis number. Of course, all three owners claimed theirs was correct.

Want to know what $38 million sounds like? Well you're not likely to find out. That's the reported value of the highly coveted 1936 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic (http://www.autoblog.com/2010/05/05/1936-bugatti-type-57sc-atlantic-sells-for-a-record-30-million/) recently sold by Gooding & Company from the Peter Williamson collection. But while we got a rare chance to stop by the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, California, for an up-close-and-personal (http://www.autoblog.com/2010/09/10/autoblog-visits-the-1936-bugatti-type-57sc-atlantic-at-the-mulli/) between the world's most valuable car and our own Drew Philips, actually seeing it start up and drive would be a rare sight indeed.
Fortunately, onlookers had the chance when the Bugatti came down to the Pasadena Art Center Car Classic and fired up its 3.2-liter straight-eight – lest we forget that this is an actual functioning automobile, and not a stationary sculpture consigned to a pedestal. What's more is that he caught it on camera in a pair of videos after the jump (http://www.autoblog.com/2010/11/09/video-this-is-what-38-million-sounds-like/#continued).

Yeah
Citroen M35 (1969): Citroen never used to shy away from the unconventional, and the M35 was as unconventional as they came, with its Wankel engine. But even Citroen could see this wasn't the future and pulled the plug with 267 built.

Correct - had the great one off DOHC V12 that many have said should have also gone into mainstream jag sports cars instead of the one that ended up in them.
Tusker
19th November 2010, 07:04 AM
It's a magnificent car in the flesh.
Story goes that with the Leyland politics of the day, the Jag engineers designed a narrow engine bay in the XJ series to make sure the Rover V8 couldn't be shoehorned in.
So there's no way a DOHC V12 would fit :(

I hadn't heard that before. The engine was a race car engine with poor torque characteristics for a road car. Certainly the Rover V8 would fit into an XJ if required.
Interestingly XJ32 twin cam heads can be made to fit on the current V12 (with a lot of mucking around) and the engine is a gem - much better than the XJ13 engine.

Tusker
20th November 2010, 07:52 AM
About the time of the Rover SD1, the Jags of that era had the narrow engine bay. I'll have to flip through my Rover books to pin it down.
On reflection, the Rover V8 would fit the earlier XJ6s & XJ12s - there's certainly enough small block conversions running around isnt there.

The V12s with outboard carbies or EFI Pleniums etc are wider than the Rover V8 and the V12s were fitted to the XJs from the start right through to the XJ 40. The XJ40 had the V12 squeezed in later so you may be thinking of the XJ 40 - when it was designed there was no intention to put the V12 in it so was designed just for the 6 - however the series 3 V12 continued on with the XJ40 as demand was still there so Jaguar decided to squeeze the V12 in the XJ40.
I have even seen a Mk2 fitted with a V12 but then that engine bay was designed to take the Daimler V8 (would be a nice engine in a series landy I think).

It was built in Aston Martin Newport Pagnell factory in the UK, but is a left-hand-drive car. The Bulldog is powered by a 5.3L twin-turbo V8 delivering 700 bhp (522 kW). The Bulldog achieved a verified top speed of 191 mph (307 km/h), but the theoretical top speed is estimated at 237 mph (381 km/h). The car was officially launched on March 27, 1980 at the Bell Hotel at Aston Clinton. Aston Martin sold the only Bulldog to the highest bidder for about £130,000 and is now reported to be back on the market.

Crikey! If that's from a well known builder - let alone Aston Martin - they should keep the work experience kid out of the drawing room...
They did design this. I took these pics of a Lagonda in Vancouver 2 years ago:

Mazda 787B visits Le Mans 20 years after its historic victory

1991 Mazda 787B at Le Mans – Click above to watch the videos after the break (http://www.autoblog.com/2011/06/16/mazda-787b-visits-le-mans-20-years-after-its-historic-victory/#continued)
In 1991, the Mazda 787B made history at the 24 Hours of Le Mans by becoming the first Japanese-built machine to win the race. In addition, the 787B was the first (and continues to be the only) rotary-powered race car to achieve the feat. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the historic victory, Mazda restored the winning car (http://www.autoblog.com/2011/05/20/mazda-787b-restored-returning-to-le-mans-for-20th-anniversary-o/) and announced it would be bringing it to France for this year's 24-hour race.
Of course, Mazda had the cameras rolling to document the event, and has published several videos of the 787B at Circuit de la Sarthe. Our favorite is a lap with Jonny Herbert behind the wheel, the man who crossed the checkered flag before anyone else in this very car 20 years ago. You can also watch Patrick Dempsey talk about and drive the car, as well as see an overview of the car's 20th anniversary celebration.
Follow the jump (http://www.autoblog.com/2011/06/15/mazda-787b-visits-le-mans-20-years-after-its-historic-victory/#continued) to see the videos. Or rather, considering that the 787B may be the single most awesome-sounding race car ever conceived, follow the jump (http://www.autoblog.com/2011/06/16/mazda-787b-visits-le-mans-20-years-after-its-historic-victory/#continued) to hear the videos.

That is an Aston Martin Lagonda, rather than a Lagonda. Aston Martin bought Lagonda in 1947.
Sorry to be pedantic, but having been brought up in a Lagonda household (I have pics of me behind the wheel of a Lagonda when I'm a couple of years old) these things matter ;)
This a shot of Dad's 1935 Lagonda Rapier taken in France on the 2009 Fougeres Rallye.

And in a different Rapier cresting The Wall at Templestowe Hill Climb probably in the late 70's, early 80's. "Ever Keen" is a book Dad put together a couple of years ago which compiles histories of cars owned by members of the Rapier Register.

It's been a while since anyone posed here, try a written format instead of a picture.
Work on the first XYZ car had been started in 1895, significantly designed from first principles as a car, not a horseless carriage, and it ran on the public roads in February or March 1896.[3] It had a single cylinder 1306 cc engine with the piston having two connecting rods to separate crankshafts and flywheels rotating in opposite directions giving very smooth running. A two-cylinder engine was fitted to the same chassis in 1897 and a second complete car was built alongside it. This led on to the first production cars in 1900, when six were made as demonstrators.[3] These had two-cylinder, 4033 cc, horizontal air-cooled engines, retaining the twin crankshaft design. Steering was by side lever not wheel. The gearbox used epicyclic gearing. The first cars were sold to the public in 1901

lhd, so usa, stupid yanks, putting the coil there, must have had a lot of failures, bonnet springs etc look ford, bonnet pins, so a special one,
but the big hemi on the aircleaner states that it isn't a ford,
and there are bulges on the guards which might just be there to allow the tyres some room as it is lowered.
dunno, so why did I post?

If the humps on the front guards are original not aftermarket, then it is a Superbird. The engine is an iron Hemi 426.
