Hey there guys,

I have just measured and cut up a new bash plate. Photos attached, let me know what you think?

Hmm. I like.

Now tell me about the recovery points!

I'm sure Razza's mentioned those before. I think one came off/loose & the bolts have now been upgraded. Or did the chassis holes give way??

looks good Ryan, needs the vents and drain holes to let air in and mud out.

i didn't think you would actually do it when you sent the text through yesterday but am glad you did. The HRA bar has been wanting for these for a long time, and now you've done one the guys in Brissie have also measured up for a bash plate as an option for the bar. They haven't sent any pics or the sample to me yet though. I don't mind the competition at all... sell it or give it away if you like. is good to someone "accessorizing" our bar ;)

cheers, Paul.

A design question: should bash plates have holes/slats/slots whatever, in the front to improve airflow around the sump ? just wondering

IMHO I say absolutely.

A small or even significant reduction in the overall strength of the plate is well worth the improvement of air flow around the radiator and escape of mud/dirt/small animals that would other wise accumulate in the space between the plate and the radiator frame.

The plate is mostly there to deflect "stuff" that gets flicked up off the road and occasionally for rubbing itself against stubborn objects that get in the way of an otherwise very civilised way of communing with the great outdoors :p

A few ribs welded or bolted on for her pleasure will improve the overall strength of the plate so the inclusion of a few drainage/ventilation holes will be of little consequence.

If you want to get all-fancy-like, you could laser-cut the holes like fish-gills at an angle that would prevent small stones from being flicked though.

Does it show that this has been floating around in my head for a while? :p

Gday guys,

I have added some significant changes to the design. I have added three stringers and will drill some holes soon to improve air flow/mud flow out ( I was going to get the "autobot" logo laser cut into it??) .

More photos to come

Hi, WHat was the cost to you for getting this made up?

Also, what likelihood is there of getting one sorted for attahcing behind a standard P38 bumper?

Hey guys,

I actually have two bash plates now, the first one i made at work, the second one..
the whole bash plate took about an hour and a half to measure and bend up, the plate cost me about $30 ( they threw in some bending and stuff too).

hope that helps

$30??? That's a fraction of what mine cost...

Are you undervaluing your work or am I getting charged too much for mine I wonder...
