View Full Version : MALPASSI FUEL REGULATORS

As previously said in past threads I am setting up a Thor manifold on a D1 3.9 engine.

I have got myself a Malpassi MRPK6EG rising rate fuel pressure regulator, which I want to use on my setup.
The previous owner of the regulator said it is set on 45psi. Now the Teh info I down loaded on the 14cux system states that the standard regulator is set for between 34-38psi. Therefore I need to adjust the malpassi down a bit.

Before I start mucking arround with the acorn nut on top of the malpassi and end up stuffing the thing up, I think I should find out some info on how to set it up properly.

Sooo anybody familiar with the malpassi ? Anybody got some advise?

I think Tombie2 can stand up, as he's got one on his disco. He put photos of his set up on a previous threads and I saw it there mounted on the firewall . A big help his pics were too. Thanks mate.:)
Cheers

Just need a fuel pressure gauge, run the pump and adjust away:)

I was under the impression you did not require a rising rate reg for the hotwire 3.9 engines?
EDIT: Just checked that part number and it is not a rising rate it is simply an adjustable fuel reg (which is the correct one for your application)

You can obtain the gauges cheap off ebay, you hook the gauge on the top, adjust the nut to get the desired psi and away you go.

Does your vehicle have any other modifications? setting the regulator to 40psi for standard systems is not un common.
& 45psi will most likely be fine, but I undertsand your concern. Better to check the regulators on each vehicle anyways.

With after market injectors things change again. ie I have the Bosch GenIII injectors and will be uping the rate on my Malpassi to 60psi shortly to get the most out of my injectors.

I recall seeing a download on RPI's site for fitting and adjusting that same regulator to 14CUX engines.

OK What I want to do is set up the manifold etc on the bench and one weekend change it over to the thor stuff, be able to start the engine and on Monday drive the disco to T& G Green (here in WA) and Dave McLochlan will put my machine on his Dyno, hook up his laptop to the disco's Haltec EM and tune it. I dont have a MASF. To be able to drive the thing therefore I need to convince the EM that things are not too far out of wak. Get my drift?

cheers

With the haltech EM and added fueling you will probably want 45psi at the regulator anyways ;)
