Gentlemen start pressing your shutter release buttons....

The topic this time is
insects.

The rules are pretty straight forward. Post your favourite insect photo of a living insect. ie a dead nailed one is not ok!

Post processing is allowed.

It doesn't matter when the photo is taken, to counterbalance that there are not many insects around for us living in the northern hemisphere at the moment.

Go nuts! :)

Cheers Roger

There's no fun in winning if the competitions low.
I don't have a macro but I'll try.

I was following the fly as it flitted from leaf to leaf, finally catching up when it landed on a half-rolled up leaf. Snapped a few quick ones, then off to the computer to see if they were any good ... and discovered half its head being devoured by the sneaky mantis!

I went back to get this shot from a different angle ...

Oh, just re-read the rule about dead insects not allowed so I guess my earlier entry is for the mantis even if focus was on the fly :D

Here's one more of a colourful fellow eating on the fly ...

Found this little fellow last night when getting some logs for the fire at our block at Elong. The pic is taken under torch light.

OK with some difficulty I'm going to declare PSI the winner for this week, unfortunately I don't really know which pic he won with :(.

With 3 votes for Psi - but generally not indicating which pic, and Chucaro getting a vote for each pic it would at worse be a draw.

So congratulations Psi - You now have the honour of thinking of a new topic for competition #44 to finish on 31/10/2010. The new topic can be posted up anytime between now and Saturday.
