I am SOOOO happy!

started to strip the 110 (Which is a complete drivetrain donor vehicle at work at the moment) on Friday and today I took a squiz at the engine compartment, the bulkhead and chassis etc up close as it is sitting on its chassis on stands at the present.

NO RUST. even in the doors.:o The paint is faded badly, there are a few minor dents and there is lichen growing on the roof, but due to living in a dry climate it is in good fettle.

For A 1985 it is remarkable.

I am a happy vegemite as this will make a great platform for the new tourer:):):)

Pics soon!

You lucky duck.

I am itching to do another restore, just have to find a good excuse. Our TD5 Defender has under 70k kms on the clock so reasons are limited.

Keep us posted with heaps of pics.

Mine's very rustfree too :), just has a 10 cent rust hole in the rear crossmember  which I keep pouring oil into.

One day I hope to lavish some $$$ on a makeover

Yes, can't wait to fit all the Rangies running gear, get it painted up and re-striped, fit the Galv ARB bar, A/C, winch, Stratos seat, tropical roof, Dual batts, traxide wiring, HF and UHF radios, spare wheel carrier, LR tank and the white Wolf rims with 255/85's....and start driving it!!!

BUT.....

Have to slow down a bit on the excitement front, part of the deal is that I have to finish the LSE Tdi and get it sold before I'm allowed to take on the next project...:(

Still, one can still think about it and plan, right???:D

Yes, pics soon.

I'm overjoyed at finding no rust in either front or rear crossmembers. Parts of The front chassis ends after I took off the bar are even still shiny chassis black if you rub the dirt off with a wet finger/ cloth:o

The $$ spent on this resto are well spent, about a 5th of purchasing a new vehicle:) and it'll see me out. I want to be buried in it when I go:D

All you'd see is a bearded stick figure standing next to a box, with round bits under it.

:D:D:D

Hows yours coming along?
