Can anyone advise if the standard gauges are easily replaced with aftermarket ones?

I want to replace the temp gauge in the deefer with a speco (http://www.speco.com.au/gauges_ss.html) electrical one and am not sure if:

a) they fit?
b) does it just wire straight in?

Thanks :)

it will fit, does it come with a new sender? pretty sure the sender will match

when i had problem with my temp gauge i had to fit a mechanical temp gauge as there was an earthing/wiring issue that i could not track done

nothing; but it's pretty vague ;) When the needle moves upwards a bit during a long haul up a mountain while towing, I'd like to know what temp it's reaching. The OEM gauge has no markings at all

Gauge is in :)

I got one of these

It works perfectly with the old sender

The only problem I've got is that I can actually read it at night, unlike the rest of the gauges in the car ;)

I want to upgrade all the gauges now :p

VDO make a good range of gauges that looks like the OEM gauges. Very well priced. Easy to install.

The only other thing to think about if you are interested in noticing change. Then a full scale gauge (usually mechanical) will give you a better visual indication of something changing before it's too late. The only company I know that make full scale electronic gauges is Autometer.

Cheers,

So after a week or so of being in I have noticed the following:

Around town - 85 degrees
Highway - 85 to 88 degrees
Long hills - 92 degrees

In other people's opinion, is this about right?

Also: What is 'Too hot'?

Is yours a TD5??

If it is, how is your tachometer hooked up as im guessing thats a normal 4/6/8cyl tacho and our engines are a 5cyl.... although i hear some ecu's send out the reading as a 4cyl signal.
