Hi Presto,
It is a copy of the Australian one here - ENGINE WATCHDOG TM2 CAR OVERHEATING SENSOR GAUGE ALARM - eBay 4x4 Accessories, Exterior, Car, Truck Parts, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 22-Oct-10 18:01:19 AEDST) (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ENGINE-WATCHDOG-TM2-CAR-OVERHEATING-SENSOR-GAUGE-ALARM-/130434551123?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e5e814d53)
I actually know the guy who makes the one here in Brisbane and have a couple of his on my cars. Personally I would prefer to support the small Australian business :), and I know his products and service are good.

If he can do a simmilar deal I don't see why not?

I went for the other guy because it was cheaper to start with and I got discount, plus personally I will probably get two so I was looking at potentially $238 instead of $300.

I'm happy to buy Australia if I can but $60 is still $60
If you know this guy do you want to contact him and ask what he could do?

TimJ the one that knows him - can you get in touch with him and ask if he's up for a AULRO group buy?

Ok, have just talked to him and yes he will do a deal for us. How many are we looking at? Price could be as low as $100 each.

There definitely seems to be some confusion here. There has been a post for some time in the Verandah section that appears to be a modified version of the one I can get but I have no idea if it is an authorised mod and now he appears to be selling his own version. There is also now a post in the Technical section from Hangover about the US versions.
From the talks I have had with my mate in the past there should be no need to monitor coolant level as the temp goes up very quickly in the absence of coolant and if the alarm is set at the right level it reacts quickly enough for you to shut down before damage occurs. A normal temp guage will not react as it relies on the coolant to measure the temp.
So what do people want to do? I don't want to waste my time or my mates if there are other solutions that people have already decided on.

Timj If its OK with you we could discuss this via PM or phone and when we have something sorted I can edit the original post in the technical section with the new details and although I am happy to coordinate a bulk purchase if you would rather thats fine too, but I imagine it would have to go though you at some stage to enusre the discount.

Just to keep you posted Jim is working on a deal with an Australian supplier which just happens to be his mate
The device will have similar functionality, Aussie made and be competitively priced.
With a bit of luck we'll get the details confirmed sometime tomorrow.

Ok guys,
The manufacturer of the TM2 is here in Brisbane and I have known him for a long time. I have a couple of his devices in my cars and they work very well.
The advertiser on AULRO who gives a discount for AULRO members modifies the standard TM2 to add a low coolant alarm. I am not convinced that this is necessary and neither is the manufacturer as any fault will be very quickly reflected in a rise in temperature on the head which is usually where the sensor is attached. However if you believe that the added sensor is necessary then you will need to buy from him.
That said, I can get a group buy of the standard TM2 together and the price will be $100 + $10 postage if it needs to be posted any where in Australia (Australia Post overnight bag), if anyone wants to wait for a club meeting then I can deliver them for no cost. Any of the options that show on their website as free can be included as long as it is asked for at the time of order.
So please register you interest here or send me a PM. I believe it will also be posted by Hangover in the general AULRO sections but will most likely be for subscribers only there.

Hi Presto,
Yep, final details may even be tomorrow, just have to tee it up with the original poster in the AULRO thread.
