Doors and roof off while driving

Hi Guys & Girls
Just like to say hi as I am new here. Many years ago I did a ground up restoration of a 1968 11A. Having used it for a few more years I gave it to my godson as he was turning 18 and needed a car. Much to my annoyance he sold the Landy and I lost my pride and joy. Skip to present day and as I was browsing the internet a few weeks ago I spied a familiar car. Yes my old dear was up for sale and I repurchased her and she now sits back in my garage only to be driven on nice days around the Mornington Peninsula.
What I was hoping somebody could tell me is it legal to drive the car without doors and roof.

According to an inspector I spoke with a couple of years ago those of us over here in WA are supposed to have the windshield whenever on road unfortunately. Of course that doesn't stop plenty of guys doing it, and I can understand the temptation given the loose (read wild west) nature of things over here.

I have not had door tops since I bought mine over 4yrs ago (rain hail or shine). My sister once asked what happens when it rains? I answered 'I get wet', no different to when I am on my motorbikes, all my vehicles get me wet, cold or dusty. (only real pain is I need wipers on the inside as well :)) I have had some big long timbers on the ute and had to fold down the windscreen and tie them to the top of the vents as it would have buckled under the weight, 100km/h is very windy.
I would love to run with out doors, but I don't have good cop karma and will not push it. I did consider removing the skins on some spare doors and just adding some netting or similar. Would still have doors, but also heaps of ventilation.

A couple of years ago, I saw a bloke driving down North Tce. (City centre of Adelaide) in a SIIa GS with no door door tops and the windscreen down. Not unusual, except it was the middle of winter and raining. He was wearing a drizabone and akubra. All I can assume is that the windscreen wipers were not working.
When you apply for registration in S.A., one of the questions is "Is the vehicle fitted with a windscreen?". It makes no mention of the windscreen being deployed or stowed.
Removing the door tops is akin to winding the window down. But with regard to the doors proper, unless it was a specially modified vehicle such as a gunbuggy, they should remain fitted.

I used to drive my old S111 around with the windows out/off and the screen down,, awesome when your out in the bush especailly,, can hear everything thats going on around you,, just gets a bit dirty/wet at times,, still an awesome way to travel,,
Don't know about the doors, but the cops never said anything about the screen being down,, Bit hard to smoke sometimes too,,,:eek:

My vehicle was registered without doors in NSW, and that's how I'm driving it. See Below. Peter

G'day All, attached is a short clip of my son Kyle driving me around the back roads of Pokolbin NSW in my S2A Gunbuggy, it is a great feeling with or without the aero screens fitted, but once up at 50mph (8o kph) it does get uncomfortable :o anyway the clip for anyone interested

I had mine regoed in QLD with no roof or seatbelts, I did however fit a rollbar soon after :p

Most of the time I had the windscrene up but on the beach I used to put it down - never should of sold it :(
