Where fitted, the Led screen in the upper dash of the earlier RRS is for Satnav. Is there anything else this screen does and was satnav a stand alone option or was it grouped with something else. I assume it costs an arm and a leg to keep the maps up to date.
If there is no satnav I assume the space is used as a storage spot.
Thanks

the screen in my D3 also has a 4x4 option which shows me which way my wheels are pointing and articulation of each wheel.
It is linked in with systems and flashes up petrol stations when fuel is low, shows you are still moving when in tunnels, plays back directions through the audio system. If hacked it can be used to watch tv and control rear dvd polayers.
The DVD for updated maps is about $300 compared to the $100 for my garmin GPS.
But pretty much if you dont have one already fitted there is a kenwood model that fits the hole very well and is generally considered to be more capable than the factory unit.

If you need to update your maps they are available from LR at a hefty price. If you go to the Whereis web site and follow the in car navigation link you will be able to purchase the latest Maps on DVD. Version 15 is available now with version 16 available in early January for the sum of $295. All maps are by Sensis. The DVD has all the same 4x4 info the same as the LR disc.

Thanks for that - so the genuine Satnav is not an economical proposition so I will stay with my $100 GPS that does everything.
On the D3 the only other thing the LCD screen does is tell you where your wheels pointed.
On the RRS does it do anything extra?
Cheers
