LT95 clutch housing drain and dowel pins in flywheel

can someone tell me size of the drain plug that fits the hole in the clutch housing. Think I need one have had to do the starter because of water and mud and the fly wheel was muddy when I pulled the box out to do the rear main seal.

I also noticed that one of the dowl pins in the clutch was broken and the other had been ground off. I would say someone must have ground the flywheel as it was cut off flush with the surface. Should I drill them out and make a new one or not worry about them?

G'day Gavo, Bolt size is 16mm with 1.5mm thread pitch, 20mm length overall. I would replace the dowels as they are crucial for locating the pressure plate while you tighten it down. Anything remotely out of alignment here will produce vibration.

G'day grnrvrs, The manual doesn't have any measurements for these but I have a couple of flywheels here, one has the dowels and the other doesn't so I will measure them up later and get back to you. How's that TRB going?

Going well. The project has turned into a complete vehicle rebuild, every nut and bolt, other than the engine itself. The TRB is in a shiny rebuilt box, sitting in a galvy chassis. I'm in the process of getting the chassis mounts finished before mounting the engine, but I think I ought to use some dowels to locate the clutch cover first. :)

If you are using the proper flywheel for landrover application and not a truck type the dowels are 6 x 23mm with 10mm inserted into the flywheel. You can use the shank off a 6mm bolt by just cutting off the head and threaded area and rounding the end that stands proud of the flywheel with a grinder. The truck flywheel has a much larger dowel.:D

Yes, that flywheel is the correct one for the landrover application - I had forgotten about sending it to you. Memory loss/flashbacks are just a part of life as you get older :eek:
The props are fine and now stashed on my boat for spares. Many thanks again for your help there.:)
