I cut off the existing rubber knob to reveal a steel shaft which will accept any after-market knob of the clamp on variety. (The shaft is not threaded). In the absence of any better idea at the moment I just siliconed a flat washer in place to hide the cut end. Saying that it's not that obvious from a distance and will probably stay that way.
Makes a world of difference to the shift quality.

What sort of seat covers you got there?
I could say nice nob, but others will think things, so I'll say well done instead.

I've heard that before, and thanks .... :D
Seat covers are Melvill & Moon and worth every cent.

An interesting comment; it reads that the modification is not to your taste cosmetically. Although that's not the reason it was installed.
I doubt anyone would deem the original plastic fantastic Ford creation a work of art, but apparently you prefer it to Italian style. Unless of course you have something else installed, so please enlighten us all.

Chill mate, I was being facetious
TBH, a shiny knob is not exactly stylish compared to the Croytech stuff.

Your humour knows no bounds.
And you've also missed the point. Croytech knobs are screw on and don't fit.

Which raises the question: How does the SVX alloy gear knob attach to the plastic sleeve?

Yes, that went through my mind too. Don't know the answer but under the rubber is dense polyethylene. I suspect the SVX may be an alloy cap rather than a solid knob.

I think you may be right there.

surely if its dense polyethylene then it could be tapped and a nob potentially screwed on?

No, the PE will be knob shaped with a thin rubber outer layer. Don't know how thick overall as I managed to pull it off in one piece and can only see the end.

The SVX gear nobs (main shifter and transfer case) certainly seem to be solid alloy. They feel solid and are cold to touch and they stay cold for a good while even with motor running or your hand on it. Indictaing that they are a solid item.

I don’t know how they are attached, they don’t won’t to turn, although I haven’t forced the issue.

Afraid not I'm still in shock after seeing the price :eek2:
