Yay! Haven't been camping since Easter! :eek: Time to fix that. Load up the Series 1, and off we go.....Sweet - the old girl got us there in style....

:) I was planning on following everyone in and joining in with the Defenders, but I keep hearing noises, smelling smells, and I'm constantly pulling over and checking under the bonnet. I'm still getting used to her, I suppose. This trip is the longest I've taken her on, 260km, and thankfully, all went well. I need to go over the vehicle now, following this run, and thought it prudent to perhaps just make our way home on this occasion. Besides - I didn't want to show up all the modern jobbies. :p

Was very exciting to see so many Defenders and wave at 52 of them! :cool:

You must have been just behind us on the way home Dan, the bike race finished just after 0900, so I thought I would cruise down to Boonah to see all those defenders before they set off for the farm at 0930. I thought they won't leave on time anyway. A few km.s out of Boonah the only message I could make out on the UHF sounded like Harry saying "I have got the tail". Knew I was too late then, thought about following them up to the property and saying G'day but turned around near the airfield instead. I should have kept going, I would have caught up with you and Kat at least.

Thanks for the photos. I know EXACTLY where they were taken from.

The skyline to the south is the QLD/NSW border and is the watershed between Running Creek (what you were camped beside) and Long Creek. I have walked every inch along that border, between Mt Lindesay, out to the Tweed Range, and along the escarpment through Lamington out to the Numinbah Valley. Beautiful country.

When I grew up they were called the MacPherson Ranges. Then, the Border Ranges National Park was commissioned from what was originally the Wiangaree State Forest (Wiangaree was the 'jungle' training area that the Army used for pre-deployment training for Vietnam). Since then the mountains around there have been more commonly called the 'Border Ranges'.

I must admit that at first glance, I am appalled at the distinct lack of M&M Expedition Furniture. I am simply unable bear the indignity Kat was subjected to. Imagine leaving one's wine on one's table, rather than in a canvas and wood ice bucket.

And at that time of the afternoon, a civilised chap and his lady friend should be having their medicinal gin and tonic water in this climate.

You really should look at acquiring a comfortable recline for your good wife to relax on on these outings, or how else to you expect her to serve you adequately back at the manor. Imagine the anarchy of not having your smoking jacket, scotch and slippers ready for you in the evening.

Poor form old chap. You are flirting with unruly behaviour if you continue in this manor.

My dear Colonel - I suspected my lack of form would not, indeed - could not, go unnoticed! Apologies chaps - but we did stop in at the Club en route, as one does, to organise sufficient supplies, but as we were dressed in Mufti, old Higgins on the door wouldn't let us in! I've since had the man whipped of course, but it left us rather non plussed, I must say. You see, since the last Tiger hunt beyond Blackbutt some time back, all my expedition equipment has been held in store there man, something about forensic testing of my buckshot and Wilkins' arse. :D Darned nuisance, but as a result, my cigars, the crystal wine glasses, oak ice bucket - even my barrel of cologne, are off limits.

Upshot was old boy - the darned woman drank my emergency bottle of Gin on the outward leg. Ruddy near well finished it off too, by Rathdowney.

I'm sure the other chaps will sympathise, given the constant blubbering on about crazed old men in crazed old cars - I couldn't get a sensible word out of her. Not that I could hear her.

As for the old Ridgedige back at the manor - no issues there, man! True, I've been a bit off the boil lately, but we still have Pugsley, that wonderful prize winning goat from our last Masons' meet. ;) And Smithers even left his 3 pounds of liver and old boot in the guest room! So, options abound - even if we just get Higgins dragged (back) over here for a good old fashioned flogging! :D

But point taken, good sir - watch this space; Ecod - never let it be said that old bean Scallop let the show down, pip pip, er what?

PS - I see you're having a run in the XV against Old Etonian next weekend - top hole, old man!

Thanks Simon - Harry Ho Har gave me a lot of help and did a great paint job for me - original Bronze Green from the original paint code, and enamel paint too, as per original spec. It's a nice blend of new resto but with plenty of old time patina.
