Disco 2 Noisy power steering

I have always had a noisy power steering unit and at last the noise has stopped.

The steering has now stiffened up so my gut feeling is the unit has stopped working.

I am currently 2/3rds into a trip around Australia towing a caravan and will be in Melbourne tomorrow aiming to be home in Perth for Christmas.

Any suggestions as to the safety of continuing to drive and if not where in Melbourne is a good place to get the unit replaced without having to take out a second mortgage.

I just replaced my boss's pwr steering oil some body put dex3 and made it real bad but i got the stuff from lra and done the job all so done his ACE as well oil not cheap $51 a ltr but all good.

There's a couple of different pumps if thats the problem.

Changing a pump is pretty simple, just need 10 and 12 and maybe 13mm sockets by memory and about an hour.

Menber It'sNotWorthComplaining! organised my replacement and gave the best price I could find in the country plus immediate availability. Don't know if he could fit but he's in Vic and could offer some advice on where to go.
