View Full Version : Swine flu battle lost

I posted some time ago that my stepdaughter (read daughter as I have been her father for most of her life), had contracted swine flue and was critically ill in SCG Hospital in Perth.
After 10 days on the ECMA machine which oxygenates the blood outside the body she had cleared the virus from her lungs, sadly however, to use that machine, which was her only chance at that time, her blood had to be thinned dramatically and she suffered a major brain hemorrhage for which there was no chance to survive, we had to make the dreadful decision to turn off her life support and be with her while the life went from her, something I wish never to witness again.

She had everything going for her, great boss, great job, new house, very close friends................. fortunately no children or partner.

She was 31.

Her funeral was yesterday, I hope now that my wife and I can begin the path to healing..............

RIP Bron

Very sad news. Best wishes to you and your family and hope you can get thru this. I've had swine flu but for me it wasnt much more than two weeks of fever. Seems odd how it can hit some poeple so hard whilst others bearly know they have it.

Death is nothing at all
I have only slipped away into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other
That we are still
Call me by my old familiar name
Speak to me in the easy way you always used
Put no difference into your tone
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed
At the little jokes we always enjoyed together
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was
Let it be spoken without effort
Without the ghost of a shadow in it
Life means all that it ever meant
It is the same as it ever was
There is absolute unbroken continuity
What is death but a negligible accident?
Why should I be out of mind
Because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you for an interval
Somewhere very near
Just around the corner
All is well.
Nothing is past; nothing is lost
One brief moment and all will be as it was before
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!

RIP Bron
