Well here I am driving a new (<1000km) D4, 2.7tdv6 whilst the dealers are arranging a blue slip for my D3.
Unfortunately, they didn't leave the manual in....
Ok, I have yet work out a few small things, like how to get a display (like the D3) of fuel consumption.
Is there a way of NOT displaying the various trip meters whilst driving ?
(I would just like to see normal mileage).
A few small things I don't like... the reach for the ride height switch, and am I right in thinking the gear lever is longer ?
Might be just my perception, but the steering wheel seems smaller as well ?

Press the end of the left stalk to step through the km etc displays.

Thanks, Same as my D3.
It was stiff, and took quite a bit of initial pressure, but a good thump and all was well....
Not really that impressed with dash display, except I didn't have to turn on lights in tunnel this morning ....
I am still thinking its more of a D3.25 than a D4

Try the 3.0L twin turbo......you'll probably rate that as a D3.3.....;)

I actually had a drive of one a few weeks ago and was quite impressed, especially whilst towing an old 30 footer van which was fully loaded (the weighbridge weight was 3450kg with 310kg ball weight) on the way back from Newcastle, The owner had to keep reminding me to slow down due to the speed limit.... I was trying to get up a decent sway on the van but the damn vehicle was just too intelligent.....
Probably the only thing stopping me upgrading in a few years will be the lack of child restraints, I suspect SWMBO will be forcing that issue....

I believe there are actually three child restraints for the second row of seats, I think they anchor of the roof.

George.

In the D4 all three seats of the middle row have anchor points on the back of the seats, and in the 3.0SE each seat can fold separately. I haven't found any anchor points for the last row.
I might get some installed, as it is handy when you have 3 kids and want to fit an adult or 2 in, you can put one kid in the back row, leaving one seat available to flip.

I have been told that child restraints in the 3rd row are possible. The Dealer said there's an automotive engineer here in Perth that will install them for about $250. I'm thinking of getting it done soon, like you I think it will be handy, especially when we occassionally have to fit in grandma and grandpa...

This is a handy site if you are looking for Land Rover manuals.
TOPIx - TOPIx (http://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/vehicle/lookupForm)
Some pages need a login, but you can get to the owners manuals.
Workshop manuals are available on a subscription basis.

Several things I would like to see:
Vehicle Specifications on brouchures etc., including the number of fitted child restraint points (yes My D3 has 3 in the second row).
I would luv to see ISOfix child restraints (or an Australian equivalent) approved.

As I understand it, crazily Isofix doesn't meet Aust standards. Not sure how long it will take us to catch up....

Why do you assume that the Oz Standards are behind?

The current standard in Aus was the same as the pre-isofix system in Europe. They upgraded as it was a better, safer system in the crash testing done in Germany from what I've read on the 'net.

Put Grandma and grandpa in the back, the third row is comfortable for an adult, I had my father in law in the 3rd row for 4 days as we drove around Kangaroo Island with no complaining.
Certainly easier than kid seats, provided they are able to get in, but as the 2nd row roll forward an out of the way it is not too hard to climb in.

George.

Driving around Jimna State Forest, wife and her friend in the third row, my wife fell asleep. Cause the seats come out of the floor it creates a footwell, making it comfortable. Seats aren't too bad either with quite a bit of room and padding. Head-height is brilliant. I think cause the wheels are quite far forward and back on the D4, you don't get thrown around much in the back either.
Cheers,
Kev.
