Hello All, a quick question i have put a 4 bolt steering box in my 110 and the old drop arm doesn't fit as well as it could, so i was thinking of changing back to the original disco drop arm and putting on a disco steering link. This would give the added benifit of haveing tie rod ends at both ends, not the ball joint in the drop arm. What i wanted check was if there was any catches here. I know i will lose to damper mount but if have an old series one i can fit.
Just thought i would check in case there was some unseen catch.
Cheers,
Dan.

I had recently asked regarding the fitting of a D2 steering box onto a 98 Deefer 300 TDI.
I had read that it provides more direct steering.
What is involved and how does it work in the end?

Well the box I fitted was out of a disco 1 so there wasn't any change in the ratio and so works fine. It is just that the ball joint in the drop arm is irritating me.
I have heard the opposite about the D2 steering. I heard it was a higher ration and so took more turns lock to lock. It is also supposed to be stronger at the bottom, so better is you have big tires.
